Or bandaids and kleenex. I think eReader (the commercial outfit) has lost control of their brand.

I tend to use 'e-reader' (hyphen, no caps) for the more generic sense, or just 'device' myself. |

Remind me not to buy a used reader from the 55% that do take it into the WC with them.

I can see people who have eReader format books thinking they will work with Sony and then purchasing one to find they don't work.

True, but I figure if I can easily avoid confusing people I probably should, regardless of whether or not someone else made a poor choice. |

It's become an issue similar to the (former) use of the name "Palm Pilot" to refer to all PDAs, and the confusion that could cause when buying apps or trying to share data. Fortunately, "eReader" hasn't become as ubiquitous as "Palm Pilot," so it shouldn't be hard to break the habit, so to speak. All you can do is get specific, i.e., refer to your Sony device as a "Sony Reader," the Iliad's an Iliad, etc, not just "an e-reader." In a pinch, say "e-book reader."

Now when referring to a Cybook, you may have to specify the model since they too have multiple reading devices.
