I don't know about the Story, but my Opus is extremely comfortable to hold. I prefer to hold it in two hands, but when I need to hold something else (such as a glass of wine ) it's perfectly comfortable with one hand. My previous reader was a Cybook Gen3 and was just as comfortable, maybe even more, except that I was always afraid I would drop it when I held it with only one hand on the subway. The Opus feels more secure because it is smaller, and maybe because of the design. But they are both light enough to be held easily in one hand, and for as long as I want to read. More comfortable by far than a paperback.

My current JetBook Lite and my deceased Astak Mentor are both far more confortable to hold than any p-book, hardback or paperback, I've ever read. The JBL is especially easy to hold and turn pages when holding it with just the left hand. I can set it down on a table to read and it won't lose its place like most p-books will if you don't hold down the pages.

Maybe you should try smaller, lighter readers like Cybook Opus, Jetbook Lite or Pocketbook 360. You'll get positively surprised about their ease of handling.

I prefer to hold my devices with one hand, or even better, prop it up against something when i'm laying in bed (and leave my hands under the covers!) All my readers are easy to hold that way (either by the left corner, or by the right corner or on the side of the device...) It all depends on where I am, and in what position I'm sitting, standing or laying down...

I do like the protectionism aspect as well when closed. No more accidental punctures.
In addition, clamshell design decreases the size of the device when it is folded, hence opening up a possibility to increase the page size of the reader. What I want to see (and buy) is a clamshell design for a4/letter capable reader, with two half-pages, rather than two pages (or two screen areas for different functionality) of the book. Obviously, there is a need for very nice hinge design, virtually nonexistent frame along the connection edge and some sort of mechanical locking of the device in open position.

Think of the currently on "life support" and infamous Readius then use that same flexible panel tech for a "dual screen" reader device. You can have what amounts to a folding device but is actually a single sheet panel which can, as the use wants, be used as a two page panel, single page or however it works best. Only thing I see as an issue it the ability to integrate a touch interface into such a device....but I think it would be a super design as these things evolve. For now a couple panels that can be tethered or used independently/individually.

People really need to let go of the "book" analogy and accept that you can read something that isn't a book. Books only had two 'panels' because printing double-sided was the easiest way to cut the thickness of a book in half. Most electronic reading devices are already quite a bit thinner than a book, and by making it double-screen you actually double to thickness of the closed book - something I'd rather not have.

yeah...so was tying our own shoes when were were all 4yrs old...

Not our problem because some smart kid will come along and solve the problem. I think in fact that with the plastic transister technology developed for the flexible panels along with the IR touch interface designed by Sony there is potential for a marriage down the road.

and you have seen this theoretic device in a working prototype? Don't condescend to this group of people, we have been talking about these things for a long while now...everyone has different needs. Just because your or my needs don't fit with someone else's does not mean other style devices should not be made.

Think about it...do we need sports cars, mini vans, compact cars, SUV's, electric drive vehicles, gasoline powered vehicles...etc...I mean they all are the same so only on type of vehicle needs to be made for everyone.

One style of clothes for men and women, all the same color and all the same size...I hope you see the point here...

I want them to make devices like you prefer as well as devices I prefer and other devices others prefer...ask out buddies in Ukraine how things were when the idea of one-size fits all worked out...and how things are now with freedom of choice.
