I actually can play almost every instrument in the typical marching/school band. I was quite decent (first chair) at at least 3 of them. I like listening to music when I'm in the right mood, I'm constantly whistling and singing in the bathroom .... I just don't listen to music in general. When I go walking or running, I like to hear the regular sounds around me. When people talk about bands and what they like, I usually have no idea. I don't like shows like American Idol or live concerts where we just watch people sing.... music is possible background, not the main feature. But I do have a few things I like. and I used to be somewhat talented at producing music....

As far as British art-rock, I never got into Crimson (I know, heresy) or the Moody Blues for that matter. I know every note of Genesis' "A Trick of the Tail", however. I was more into the "stadium" art-rock of Yes, ELP, Rush, and I was a big Alan Parsons fan when I was little; at the risk of sounding like an old man, "Now there was a visionary!"

Actually, while early Zeppelin (among others) molded my psyche, it was Cheap Trick At Budokan complete with the thousands of screaming Japanese girls, which made me want to "do that when I grow up". I knew I was going to be a musician but the live aspect of it never hit me until that album.
