Creating omnibus files with Sigil
I have created so called "omnibus" books with BD and with Sigil. Sigil is a little strange.
If I format each PG short story w/ Sigil into an ePub and then try to add them into a NEW Sigil file, each of the additions is put into the MISC folder. This seems to obviate any additional editing e.g. Sigil Chapter Breaks etc. Concatenating the HTML files is one solution but is a pain. The other option is to open each short story in Sigil, copy everything between <body> and </body> and then paste it into the New Sigil file. Also a pain. I use the same CSS file to avoid any conflicts. So, am I missing something? Or is this somrthing for the future? |

I have done this on former collections. It still comes down to concatenating HTML files. I guess there is no way to collect ePub files into an Omnibus. Take care, my friend. Charlie |

Huh? I'm not quite sure what you mean. Can you explain in a bit more detail? I mean is there a way to combine epubs or is that something still in development?

![]() open each EPUB file in Sigil and make sure that all Stylesheet, Image and XHTML text NAMES are unique to the GROUP OF FILES TO BE COMBINED . (if not the exactly same stylesheet) or Image. (rename with Sigil if needed and save) Take time to rename the chapter pieces to a (Unique) name that allows their order to easily be confirmed. Now open each of the other files with Winzip (or similar util) and extract the OEBPS folder to a good place (named). Open the First file and "Save As <name of Omnibus> Now we are going to lay the foundation for the other pieces. A) In the Book Browser, right click on Images : Add Existing. select all the images INSIDE the (saved) images folder for the second title (You are working IN the first title) . They shold now be in te list<check that name changes did not happen). B) Now Add the stylesheet from Book 2 We now should have the dependencies in place. C) Now Add Existing: the desired sections. D) Confirm-Adjust the "Play Order" and Save Repeat A-D for each additional "book Section" |
