Yeah, I'll nominate it....it's not everyone's cup of tea, and I would equate the book to a "slasher movie" but it was a fun read, if something that disgusting can be fun.

I nominate The Advetures of Whatley Tupper by our very own Rudy Kerkhoven. It's not all comedy, btw. There are sad moments in it too.

actually maybe a more fitting nomination for the category would be the group written "draculas" ebook by ja konrath and his co-authors. but that doesn't release until halloween i think.

or does a book have to have ghosts and stuff to be "horror" or does "thriller" also apply? i can think of some good thrillers by indie authors, no less.

I nominate "The House on the Borderland" by William Hope Hodgson.

In 1877, two gentlemen, Messrs Tonnison and Berreggnog, head into Ireland to spend a week fishing in the village of Kraighten. Whilst there, they discover in the ruins of a very curious house a diary of the man who had once owned it. Its torn pages seem to hint at an evil beyond anything that existed on this side of the curtains of impossibility (Wikipedia)

I won't be nominating or seconding anything this month because the book I want to read -- Risen by Jan Strnad -- has already been nominated, seconded, and thirded. The short stories were a hoot. Can't wait to read the novel.

I have to nominate "At the Mountains of Madness" by H.P.Lovecraft:
On an expedition to Antarctica, Professor William Dyer and his colleagues discover the remains of ancient half-vegetable, half-animal life-forms. The extremely early date in the geological strata is surprising because of the highly-evolved features found in these previously unknown life-forms. Through a series of dark revelations, violent episodes, and misunderstandings, the group learns of Earth's secret history and legacy.
I have probably read it about 20 times and it still fascinates me.
