I am also wondering if this is possible? It auto-sorts alphabetical in the manager but shows up randomly on the Kindle.

Didn't read the thread, so apologies beforehand.

My "create a collection" is grayed out, because I haven't registered the Kindle (because I don't have a WiFi). Is there any way to manage collections without registering Kindle, using this software or anyway else?

Unless you just do not want to register that's OK. But if it is because you don't have WiFi you could go to your local library, most cities provide WiFi there, or to a coffie shop that has WiFi. In most cities there are free WiFi spots. I used one at a Wendy's, of all places, before I got internet.

I'm not sure I want to register actually... because of the big brother features.

So I suppose using collections isn't possible then... too bad.

If you keep wifi/3g off after registering there really aren't any "big brother" features to worry about. And personally I'd say it's worth it to have access to the Collections feature.

It seems that the Kindle 3 wont recognize any revisions to the collections made within the Kindle Collection Manager until after a restart, is this true for everyone?

Works that way for all. The kindle doesn't recognize changes "on the fly".

Without the ability to select multiple items, this is very laborious for my 1200 books. Any way to do it with all those books that is easier??

I don't think so unless Adrian returns to continue work on the collection manager (selecting multiple items was something he wanted to add to the next version).
