1.) He could have chose other rules, therefore his morals are simply his own rules-- back to "might makes right" 2.) He could not have chose other rules, therefore there is something above God stopping him from doing so, therefore God is not omnipotent. | |

I'm sorry, I really didn't mean to stir up a storm. I guess the topic does that by itself. I just responded to what I read on this thread, I guess kind of emotionally. Since then I've being attacked on all sides. I do believe that people should stand up for what they believe in.

I suppose not, not really. Unless maybe the original religion had certain membership requirements that the "copy" religion decided to forego, but still followed the same doctrines & held the same kind of religious services. Grabbing someone else's myths and putting a new spin on them doesn't make for a copycat religion; it makes for a different religion that built on existing folklore & history. Maybe "spinoff religion" is a better term? |

Its not plagiarism. We're actually talking about history and the lessons to be learned from it. History compounds, and so does religion. To focus on this is off the point though. The best a person can do in the first instance is to focus on God and what He means to our lives.

Well, there's really not that many variations on the omnipotent, enigmatic deity myth, so I guess all these fairy stories tend to gravitate towards similar basic stories.
