Or you could just use the Calibre dedrm plugin.
Download using Kindle4PC then drop into Calibre, poof, no more DRM. This method works perfectly fine with the current version of K4PC (1.2.1) Last edited by Ajax; 09-21-2010 at 04:38 PM. |

I don't think this works with the "standard" mobidedrm plugin. Are you using K4PCDeDRM-0.01_plugin.zip from tools_v1.9?

Yes, that's the one I am using. I didn't have any problems with the ~150 files I tried it on.

Yes well you have lost me yet again, I have no idea (and I am sure this applies to others) how to use a plug-in let alone how to download one into Calibre. I don't even know what a plug-in is or what it does, I have gazed at the plug-in section of Calibre and seen all these different things, but am totally unaware of when, how, or why to use them.
There is an awful lot of assumed levels of ability and knowledge amongst our colleagues. I would like a simple didactic approach on how to do all this commencing at basic idiot level (mine) and progressing onwards. Alas it is not to be, I shall just keep purchasing DRM books according to whether they are available, without any light at the end of the tunnel. I have heaps of books that can be read on one reader but not another. So why is it so difficult for someone to write a program to alleviate this problem, I think a lot of us would happily pay for it as we pay for many other computer programs that we use. John |
