There is nothing wrong with proprietary software, Apple are certainly happy to create it, they come across a little hypocritical when going on about standards. I like choice, why not support both and let the consumer decide instead of flinging FUD around? |

This thread is about the ExoPC, not the many failings of the ipad. Can you guys go start another thread?

I've been playing a little more with the exopc development stuff. Am tempted to have a go at creating something...maybe if I come up with something good they'll send me a free test unit. ![]() ...or I can just keep dreaming. |

I am also going to "develop" some apps for the ExoPC UI. In fact, I am going to convert my entire collection of portable apps into UI apps. I have probably 75 portable apps that are must have apps. All are open source and truly free.

Yeah it's a little more packaging than development but I've been meaning to play with multi touch for a while now so I have a few ideas I might work on which could then be packaged as exopc stuff.

Kindle becoming a better option for me than epub with it working and wirelessly synching reading progress on my pc, blackberry and ipad has actually made more more likely to buy myself a k3 to replace my current sony.

If you look at the netbook market the upgrade market has been driven in a large part by the tendency of netbook makers to increase screensizes which is basically just a minor version of a form factor change and thus tablets are just the next change for most of those manufacturers. |

If I was looking to reduce the amount of devices then I would definitely look at a win 7 tablet since it would cover the ipad and netbook roles pretty well, the question marks for me are performance and battery life as I am used to 10 hours from my netbook, work laptop and my ipad now. Has anyone looked at the Masterpad, it seems to have the same specs and size of the Exopc.

I figure a dedicated ereader replaces several thousand other single purpose devices.

Sorry I really do not mean to be sarcastic, and you do make a very valid point, up until of course saying that the win 7 tablet would be that convergence device to fill most needs. Quote:
And of course like others have said, you can hardly sustain interest with no actual product at hand...
