I miss the number keys too! I know I can do the Alt + trick, but, as vega07 said, who wants to remember which key corresponds to which number? At least they could have printed the numbers above the top row of keys on the main body of the kindle!
![]() Maybe that would have ruined the style, though. I will survive, I'm sure. It just seems silly, that's all. ![]() k4k |

Well, the numbers are in sequential order. So it's not like you are guessing...

You don't have to "remember" that U=7; you simply count the keys starting with Q=1. The only skill required is the ability to count to 10.

I miss the number keys, too, but since I don't use them very often so it's a minor annoyance. The alt shortcut works fine for quick entry, I just have to take a second or two to figure out which key corresponds to which number. IMO, having the symbol menu stay open until you press the symbol key was an inspired bit of programming.

LOL, no offense but I think that's horrifying response because simply, it's not user-friendly at all. Amazon needs to be more user-friendly if it wants to attract a wider audience for the Kindle and removing the number keys was a step backward.

Sure, I would love to have number buttons. Besides that, I would prefer to have the numbers above the keys to make it a bit quicker.
A minor thing for a great product that I'm guessing will be different when I buy my k4 or 5. Maybe someone that knows how can make and sell stickers that would go above the keys to show the numbers. It could be a strip with a transparent background with light white numbers. I bet a lot of people would pay a few dollars for them. |

I'd prefer to have them on the actual key, But that's just me.

I would prefer a number row, but I don't see the lack of it as a downside of the product. Many portable devices (i.e. cellphones) also don't have a number row.
I would like them to print the numbers on the top row keys though. Quote:
So I don't see the need to translate the software right now, because that would involve a lot more people, a lot more time to release updates, and it would probably add to the overall cost of the device. I'm also an international user, and English isn't my native language. But I do prefer using good software in English than poorly translated versions, which is probably the case for around 95% of existing software, even for big companies like Microsoft and Oracle. |

Personally, I don't miss the convenience of separate number keys very much. Now the loss of the '/' key is another matter (needed for entering URLs for the browser). |
