I assume that the new Sony covers still use a magnetic closure? Also, does the reader feel much bulkier with the cover?

Still do use magnetic closure, and it ends up being just slightly thicker than the stand-alone PRS-300.

I have big hands with arthritis, so the thinness of the 350 makes it a little difficult for me to hold comfortably. So I'm actually looking forward to getting a cover to make it a bit thicker. I'm going to make one more pass through my local Best Buys and if they don't have them I'm just going to order one directly from Sony. I would probably get it as soon or sooner than waiting on Best Buy to stock them. I wish I had a Sony Style store nearby, but they only have one in my metro of 6.5 million people and it is 30 miles away through horrible traffic.

Would you say then that the thickness of cover sides is thinner than the cover for the 300? I really liked the 300 cover as it was fairly thick and robust.

No, it looks to be virtually the same, what I meant was that since the PRS-350 is already thinner than the PRS-300, the added thickness from the 350 covers about makes it slightly thicker than the 300 w/o it.

However as I mentioned, I like the new one a lot more since the front cover easily folds back w/o moving the back cover. Hard to explain from someone who's not using English as a first language but when you get to see it, you'll know what I mean

yeah from the pic I saw they seem to have glued the hinge to the back cover rather than the spine like they used to. Much better as the spine is not stressed when folding back cover.

lol no worries

thought it was a good move when I saw it, I hated they way the old ones moved left and the hinge looked like it was pulling off the cover. Good move on Sonys part. All looking very good, improvements all the way

I went to my local Bestbuy they had the 350 for sale but not on display though. So I could not actually see it. And I would not buy it without seeing it first. They were waiting for Sony people to rearange the Sony readers display next week along with bringing the 650 to the store too.
I am on the fence here between the two.
The 350 looks more portable and easily could be held in one hand. But it does not have wifi nor expansion slots. That's not a big deal, even though the wifi it's nice to have. It is so convenient. I love it with the Kindle.
I almost bought a 505 found in a bargain bin in a store. They were asking 150 for it but considering that the new Sony is out I thought it is worth paying 50 more for the 350 to get the pearl and touchscreen + more shades of gray, let alone that the 505 firmware is not supported anymore.

Yes, the 950 is the model (not yet released) that will have wi-fi and 3g (if I'm not mistaken). I'm deciding between the 650 and the 950 (not because of wi-fi or 3g, but because I think that the extra inch would be great for PDFs). But man, that 350 looks so great. Realistically, though, I'm probably never going to carry it in my pocket, and the 950 would fit into all of my purses.

The 900 was fair (as far as eInk readers goes) for reading PDFs. Some PDFs still look bad even on the 9.7" screen of my Kindle DXG. The reason I got rid of my 900 was because of eyestrain due to the added touch layer. But the 950 won't have that layer, so no problem there. As far as the 900 and 3G went, the 3G was only for accessing the Sony bookstore. I suspect that the 950 will have the same limitations with 3G and WiFi.

Went to my local Best Buy this afternoon. Beforehand I looked on the BB website to see what they listed as in stock. They listed the 350 silver as in stock. But when I got there to buy a cover (already got a 350) there were no 350s on the display shelf. Last year when I went to the same store to get a 300 that was listed in stock they claimed not to have them. it took two more trips and a lot of persuading before they admitted to having them, went to the storage room, and allowed me to buy one. So I guess this store is going to take its time about placing them on the shelf again this year too!
