It's actually quite disgusting (no! not that!). I make juice out of them then sit there and eat all the yummy fruit left on the skins, getting covered in orange juice at the same time. They are obviously very fresh oranges and very sweet, but sometimes we do make marmalade out of them (if I don't eat them all first).

Well there's that. I like the cover as well because it just felt like I had/have more of a grip on the reader and I sure don't want to drop it on the tiles or concrete. |

If you use one of those spinning, pulpless, juicer-machines, I find it nice with a small piece of fresh ginger root (for me, about half the size of the last knuckle of your thumb when juicing for two). The ginger cuts the sour acidity of the oranges slightly, with its own zing added.

Why are oranges oranges?
Seems like they kind of dropped the ball when they named them. Smacks of laziness and a severe lack of imagination. I call them "feldmans". They kinda look like feldmans, you know? |

I'm trying to decide what movie to see this weekend. Yeah, I know, I should be reading, but I'll read tonight. The Boston Globe reviewed 4 movies that I'm dying to see. The Town (a crime thriller set in Bawston).
The Disappearance of Alice Creed, a kidnapping thriller. A Woman, a Gun and a Noodle, [don't laugh, it's an Asian remake of the Coen brother's Blood Simple, the creepiest noir film ever] about a nasty old noodle shop owner whose wife is, well, kanoodling with the young noodle master. Henri-Georges Clouzot's Inferno, a documentary about Clouzot directing his movie Inferno, falling madly in love with sexy Romy Schneider, having a heart attack and so on and so on And I can only see them on Sunday, because tomorrow I'm going to a John Coltrane Tribute concert. Sigh. It's so nice to have all these wicked choices. ![]() |

Yep - and you can't eat all the yummy left over bits if you use a machine, hand juicers are best, not to mention the good exercise! Part of the fun of growing fruit in your own back yard is the more "hands-on" approach to eating it. You have to pick it and get it out of its "container". The grape vines are best - just wander past and pick them off as you go!

Feldmans are oranges that I renamed feldmans because calling oranges "oranges" is just ridiculous.
Clementines are not. Usually. Unless you really want them to be. But that would be your problem. Probably. Unless you didn't want it to be. Then oranges are feldmans, clementines are clementines, and I forget why you started this in the first place. My guess would be you're a closet sadist. |
