When should we start seeing 350/650 in stores

They didn't. They still don't have any Kindle 3s (except for one demo) and they didn't have any new Sonys yet. But they would gladly sell you a case for the 300 or 600 at $29! Seems like they should discount the discontinued stock and make room for the new.

Interestingly they have a kiosk type of display on one side is the Sony Readers and accessories and on the other side is the lonely Kindle 3 with no accessories or sales units. The Nooks are squirreled away some place else.

I do not know about the website, or about Canada Sony stores. However, I pointed out earlier in this thread that the U.S. stores will wave the restocking fee if you are exchanging for an item of higher value. Thus, I bought the cheaper 350 with the idea of trying it out until the 650s show up. Then, if I feel so inclined, I will trade up. Like I said, this may not be true of the stores or website in Canada, so your best bet is to call customer service and ask.

My order status has finally been updated. It says "ready for shipment" and the estimated ship date is the 20th. There has been no email.

Well, I went by my local Sony Style today to take a look at the 350. I bought it and cancelled my 650 order on sonystyle.com. I really like the size, weight and screen. Since I never use the music player or memory card (and why would i ever need to with 1.5GB of available memory?), the size and lower price made it a no-brainer for me. The store sample had 'Price and Prejudice' loaded and I found it to very readable with the XS font size, albeit without my glasses (I'm myopic). The only thing I don't like is that now I need to buy another Tuf-Luv case. I really think the 350 is a winner. It is so portable and easy to use, I think it is what e-Readers were supposed to be from the start.

Best Buy is showing the 350 on its website now (can't order though, just says "coming soon!"). Progress though, I've been checking Best Buy's website compulsively every day since the news came out and today's the first day I've seen this listed

I am in Toronto Canada. 650 is available on shelf. I walked into a local sony store on the evening and was surprised to find all three colors (red, black and even silver) available there. I bought red 650. I am glad that I didn't do the pre-order but waited for 2 weeks more! I probably am still waiting for shipping if I did the pre-order.

I have been lurking these forums for awhile trying to decide between a Kindle 3 and Sony 350, well I went to Best Buy tonite and they had a Kindle 3 on display but no Kindles out yet so I finally got to play with it. I then went behind the display to the Sony E-readers and they still had the old 300/600 on display but there was one random PRS-350 in a box below! I bought it.

Wow, those photos are amazing. I'm almost sorry I didn't wait and pick up a 650 now...but only almost. I'm loving the 600 even with the old screen tech. and the extra layer on the touchscreen.

Ditto for my PRS650. My credit card got charged yesterday and shipping date is 20th. However, there's still no shipping date for the light cover, which is a bummer.

Local Sony Style Store has only the 350 for sale... the 650 is not in yet. They do have it (the 650) on display to play with it, just not for sale.

I might stop by to take a look... but I was hoping to buy it today... heading out to San Francisco and would have been nice to do my reading in the new one instead.

Thanks for saving me a phone call! I'm talking to Miami now. The only one left in the state is Tampa. And that's 4 HR ride for me, so I didn't want to.

As an aside, anyone notice that all the SonyStyle stores are in upscale malls? That may be the reason for the premium

Boca Raton says they have the 350 in stock with covers and chargers. But, he didn't seem too bright. So it could be the 350 in stock with PRS300 accessories and chargers.

Just got off the phone with Miami. They're due to receive the 350 and the 650 in stock tomorrow, but have not received them yet.
