When should we start seeing 350/650 in stores - Page 16

Hi, Just a quick update to my PRS 650 I picked up in the UK yesterday, I tried to register the unit several times today on Sony Europe web site, mainly to claim my 100 free books on promo registration. However each time their site would not let me register and advised trying later. Wonder if this has any thing to do with launch problems. The unit itself is behaving perfectly and I am very impressed with it. After some more usage and testing out, will post my comments on the product.

Just got my magical email update...sonystyle.com's best estimate on a ship date is now 9/22...."Due to the large number of requests for the Model Number: PRS650BC Reader Touch Edition your estimated ship date has been delayed." Um, but since no one in the US has gotten a 650 yet, where exactly did this large number of requests go? Crazy.

Just bought a silver 350 at the Tyson's Corner Sony Store. I asked how many they had left in stock and they said they had 8 left. The display was toward the back of the store. Instead of a kiosk, they had a display inset into a wall. I did suggest that they add some lighting to make reading a little easier.

Okay, I now have my 350, after all the hassles this morning, and it is charging up as I write this. They were very apologetic and nice about it. I also found out an interesting bit of info for others who are buying, or have bought, 350s. Although they do have a 15% restocking fee for returns that have been opened, the will wave this fee if you are exchanging the item for an item of greater value. Thus, I can try out the 350, see if I like it, and as long as they get in some 650s within 14 days, I could exchange it without penalty if I choose. Perfect!!!

Yeah, I had written them yesterday through the SonyStyle website and called them earlier today. Sounds like from the other response that they had more preorders than they expected. Perhaps they stopped selling stock at the stores to fulfill all of the preorders.

I pre-ordered a pink PRS-350 from my local Waterstones store in the UK, and they told me that it would be available today to collect. Got to the store at lunchtime, and the assistant (very apologetically) said that the PRS-350's were supposed to be delivered today, but they had inexpicably not arrived with the rest of the delivery. He said he thought it was potentially a Sony problem, as they'd had no word from their HQ as to why they hadn't arrived, and that up until the delivery had arrived they still thought they would be arriving today. He'd rung a couple of other local branches and they were in the same boat.

They'd even half-built the display - Waterstones were taking pre-orders for the Black/Silver PRS-650, and Black/Pink PRS-350 and they only had display boxes for the Black PRS-650 on the shopfloor, along with a few folorn accessories.

The Waterstones website is now showing the Black 650 and Silver 350 as immediately able to ship, but the Silver 650 and Pink 350 as on back order, ready to dispatch in 2-4 weeks. So I have no idea when I will eventually get my reader - the assistant said to try ringing the store next week, but I don't think I'll get my hopes up until Waterstones online presence is showing actual stock.

And don't even get me started on my local Sony store - on Tuesday at least they had no idea when/if they would be getting any stock.

Now the SonyStyle site shows my order "Ready for Shipment" on September 20th. So maybe I will get it by the end of next week.

Lucky! I hope you do get it. I wonder why your order is showing updates but mine still only shows 9/7 as the estimated ship date and isn't changing at all...makes me think something bad happened to mine.

Hopefully not. Maybe my order was just before yours. I ordered it the evening of 9/5 and it had showed a status of "Shipping update" and an estimated ship date of 9/7, until today. Or perhaps it was because I had opened a ticket with them yesterday and called today about my order status.

I haven't received any emails from them, but I've been constantly checking my order status online. I finally saw that it is to be shipped on Monday, 9/20. I checked the SonyStyle store, and they are now saying that the red 650 and the red case are in stock and ready to ship on 9/20. The black 650 and the black case are still showing "backordered".

I went into my local Best Buy on my way home from work today to check out the new iPods with the retina display, and they had one lonely silver Sony 350 sitting on an endcap. The operative word being had, as it's now sitting here in my house, charging. It's every bit as nice as everyone said.

There you go. I had ordered the red one as well. Wanted something different this time. My 600 is black.

Borders in Boca will be getting them by the end of the month. Target has no clue what I am talking about, and the SonyStyle stores don't know what's going on with anything.

If you guys start getting them by the end of the month, I may just order online. Just got notice that a pair of sunglasses and shoes I ordered in June from Oakley have finally shipped two days ago - well, the sneakers are still MIA. So, I guess your delay isn't THAT bad

Really restored my faith in humanity. Buying sunglasses for Summer and getting 'em in fall. Gotta love it.

I received my 350 but thinking of exchanging it for the 650 when it's available in stores. Anyone know if I can return my 350 at a store when I bought it from the Sony Canada website? I heard there is restocking fee. What's up with that?

Hrm, I ordered mine on 9/3...but it is black not red so maybe that is causing the hold up.
