It will probably be the same price as it is on Amazon. So $189 for the 3G/WiFi model and $139 for the WiFi only model.

au contraire. i looked at my nook at the B&N and then went down the street and got it at best buy. on my best buy account, if you buy $249 wiorth and manage your payments wisely you get the thing for about $13 a month no interest. i got mine before prices went down, but if you buy a case, or a light or whatever, you get to $250 pretty fast. they give you 18 months; last i checked, amazon might give you six.

I was at Target last night and they did have a Kindle tucked away in the electronics section in a rather poor location and it turned out to be a mostly dead K2. Batter was flat. Also the way it was tethered to the display, you could not get a feel for how it actually felt to hold. The tether kept pulling at the K2. So really, that display was worse then not being there. They also had a rather awful Sony display nearby. It has a PRS-300 and a PRS-650 on display. The 650 was just as poor for trying out. So really, why is Target allowed to sell Kindles and Sonys when they have no idea how to even display them so people can see them and know what they are?
The readers belong in the book section. They need to be able to be held. They need to be able to be tried out. They need staff who knows how to answer questions that you can actually find easily. And they also need to have real content on them so you can see that real current eBooks are available for sale. The problem is that Target just stuffs them in a corner someplace in electronics and lets them just be and if something goes wrong with the display, so be it. |

It takes personal time to sell a product like this. And that time costs money. You have to have enough sales people to be able to spare one to talk to a customer for fifteen minutes or more, and you should pay that person a few bucks per sale. Which means, if you get the service you want at a B&M, you'll pay more than you'd pay from an online retailer.
The public has chosen low price over service, so the chances of finding anyone at a store who can speak knowledgably about any ereader is slim unless they happen to own one. |

I just loaded my brothers Kindle3 with MOBI books and converted some PDFs into MOBI using Calibre showing him how it is done. This is his first time using a reader. All I can say is if my brother has one it has hit the 'mainstream' today Best Buy and tomorrow you will see it in Walmart.

If it wasn't a 650, then it was a 600 with the touch layer removed. But the real issue is Target puts readers in stupid places and most of the time they don't work.

I tried to look at the newer models recently and found those are not working and I don't think they are intended to work. It does seem kind of pointless to have them there if you can't use them; although it is nice to see them, it would be better to be able to use them too. |

I live in Costa Rica and think I sold 3 people on my Sony 505 last time I was at the eye doctor. They said they had heard of them but not seen them. After I demonstrated mine, they were sold! You really need to see and touch before spending your hard-earned $$$. These were ex-pats who wanted to read books in English, very scarce here.
Since this is a Kindle discussion I'd better add that I LOVE AMAZON (but love my Sony 505 better than a Kindle)! |

Hi everybody!
I've been rewriting a famous novel by Ray Bradbury. I almost have finished it, but only need a little clue. Does anybody know which temperature a Kindle burns at? Thanks in advanced. Have a nice weekend! |
