HarryT gave me the awesome hint to hit a letter and press enter in the main menu. It gets you to the letter. Don't know if you knew that but that reduces 40 clicks to maybe 5

I try to keep my list down to 100. Speeds up searching for a given title. You can always just download one again if you want to reread it, especially ez if you have the 3G unit as I do.

I'll just add that you need to have your library sorted by author or title for this to work - before anyone gets frustrated by the fact that this tip doesn't work when sorting by collections!

Before the Collections feature, I didn't keep a lot of books on my Kindle because as others have mentioned, it was a nightmare to wade through all those books. However, after Collections was added, the largest number of books I kept on my K2 was 1200. I never experienced any type of performance issues with the devices.

Since receiving my K3, I have only loaded around 900 books. Since I mostly read series I have all of my Collections organized in that way. For example, Nora Roberts In Death series shows up as: In Death - Nora Roberts, I organize all my Collections by character or series name and then author name. I only keep unread books on my Kindle and delete once I have completed the series. If for any reason, I need to re-load or re-read the book, I just upload through Calibre. |

do you intend to put any more on it? i take it has indexed everything now. could you know please explain to the audience exactly what the performance issues are and if they are special to you only or if you think they apply to every kindle. i mean has someone else loaded a huge amount of books like 3500 and how does it perform? i get the impression no two kindles are alike as different people are saying different things.another guy was saying he had 900 with no issues.you say you have 2600 and performance is not great whatever that means...could you all elaborate? my kindle delivery date arrived today as being 29/9/2010 but in view of the issues raised i am thinking of canceling and then ordering it again in 2 weeks time which means i will get it in 6 weeks time maybe by which time some of the problems may have been ironed out. |

Just because you CAN put 3500 books into something, doesn't mean you should. Kind of like buying a car that has a top speed of 110 and then zooming right out of the lot at top speed. I have had no problems with mine. It holds A LOT of books. Most reasonable people understand that they did a simple calculation to help people understand APPROXIMATELY how many books it holds. It seems your knowledge about false advertising rivals your knowledge of data compression. I am sure if the goal is to find 3,500 books to fit on the kinlde, it could be done. I, as well as most other people, simply don't want to take all of the time simply to try to prove someone wrong. If you are willing to pay for my time, I will find 3,500 books that will fit on the Kindle, making their statement "up to 3,500 books" completely accurate. But no one really seems to care...except you. |

I have a feeling that by the time I obtain 3500 eBooks (I'm at about 1200 now) The Kindle 5 or whatever will probably be able to hold 10,000.

I think I have around 450 actually on my Kindle right now. I've been loading and adding Collections most of the day. I'll see how performance is tonight when I'm reading but I'm not expecting any problems. Some people around here sound suspiciously like my husband "Honey, its a 5 day vacation. Not even you can read 1200 books in 5 days." |

I wonder if they are primed for a kindle in the sense of automatic collections.i would pay hard money so it is neatly organized already. Has anyone actually bought these dvd and can they supply a list of authors/titles? I would hate it if they were all Mills and Boom. |
