Well, that, and she vents so eloquently! But she does seem accident prone this year. Perhaps those big kitties could be body guards?

If Arwen or Strider or Pi were hurting, you would have a loaded pistol jammed up the vet's nose if he blew it off like that.

But it's your pain, so you just man up and keep going.

actually if you've ever met or heard about old busted up cowboys lamenting their younger days... the boot fits... just that I'm a cowgirl type

it is about 6 inches up from the dead center of the knee, a vertical fracture with "an anomaly and the red blood cells are acting odd". I kept complaining and fussing about my thigh after that fall and the surgeon kept checking out my knee and taking pictures of it. my physical therapist could feel something in there, I could feel something in there... literally FEEL something. I see her tomorrow... hopefully she can help me understand more. this woman has glued me back together more times than I care to think about, and when she can't she points me in the right direction

more than this journey!!!! went to D.C. for the full military funeral of my F.I.L. and then my son's subsequent "let me show you D.C." with private tours of the White House and Senate, a normal jaunt at the Simthsonian and all of the necessary "annnnnd we go EVERYWHERE by Subway in D.C.", my father's illness and death, in their 3 story house in the mountains of New Mexico, and then the trip to Mexico to work on the F.I.L.'s estate, walk around town interviewing various people, go to several ranches, track down ranchers etc. all on a leg the Doc yesterday tells me; "well, you really need to stay off of it for awhile"

*sigh*

I think you're over qualified Besides the help we need is to hire another web developer so that I can concentrate on the network stuff. This doing both isn't working so well. In the midst of the firewall issues one of the sales reps wanted to know when I could finish the web project they were waiting for so the client could look at it on the internet while I fixed the other stuff. At which point I explained to her that since we had no firewall the site couldn't be viewed anyway.

You sure do it to the fullest
That might actually be better than the muscle separation you thought it might be. I guess it will depend on whether or not you need surgery for this and how it would compare.

By my education? Yes. By my practical experience? Maybe. By job experience? Not a chance.

Personally I'd rather handle the network stuff; that way I don't have to worry about that silly "the customer is always right" nonsense. I've done some web devel stuff in school, a very basic web-based payroll-admin thing in VB and a front-facing project for a mythical employment service using MySQL and--get this--a Joomla template.

The worst thing is the expectation that what you do takes no at all. The best one was the job order I got from a sales rep that put in the order (without consulting me) that had a time estimate on it of 1/2 hour. The job said "Add a create user button", or something similar.

I added a button to the correct page that said "Create User". I even did it in 1/3 of the time allocated. We had a nice long talk the next day when I explain that if they actually wanted the button to do anything I'd need at least several hours and a fair amount of discovery. She wasn't happy.

That's not bad; I would have made it throw an error pop-up pointing out (rubbing in?) the fact that it didn't do anything, but I understand time is money.

That's similar to my recurring computer-building scenario:

Client: "How much will it cost me to have you build a computer?"

Me: "That depends; what will you use the machine for?"

Client: "Oh, I want it to do everything."

Me: "That'll be $10,000, please."

this is the same sales rep that when a client didn't provide a help page for a new portion of their site asked me if we just have the help button go to a blank page. I think she is still mad at me for laughing at her in front of everyone.

Oooh, gotta love those salespeople!

I ended up getting out of IT because, although I generally loved the job and much about it made the Virgo kitten in my personality purr, I finally decided it wasn't worth the stress. What got me in the end was working for managers whose only real goal was to *be* the manager, to be in control and tell people what to do, often with no understanding of the consequences of their decisions and no willingness to consult or collaborate in case it eroded the perception of their power and authority. I got tired of enabling people who were accountable only to their own ego, and working untenable hours - much of which was never remunerated - and have them take the credit and the rewards. What kind of life is that?!

It was terrifying. But what's been fabulous about it is that, since I screwed my courage to my own particular sticking-place and took the step, my interests and abilities have blossomed in all sorts of other areas I never imagined they might. It may seem an odd thing to say on a rant thread, but I'm so much happier !!
