There is no 'should' here. Do what makes sense to you.
People use calibre for one or both of two reasons: to convert books, and to manage their library. If you use it only for the first, then put the converted books in a place that makes sense to you. If you use it for the second, then let calibre manage all the books, included the ones purchased from Amazon. It seems to me that managing some of my books with application A and some others with application B (e.g., kindle-for-pc and calibre) is a recipe for confusion. That may be because I find myself easily confused. Perhaps it makes perfect sense to you. Keeping the amazon books in the kindle-for-pc folder (or wherever you downloaded them to) after adding them to calibre is a personal decision. I wouldn't, but that is irrelevant. Again, do what makes sense given your usage patterns. |

What I do is download to somewhere else, 'process' them to remove the what-you-silly-person-you-actually-want-to-read-what-you-just-bought encumbrance, use calibre's "add books", and then convert them to epub for my reader. |

BTW, we will have two K3's. Will that cause any problems for Calibre? Will it know there are two different Kindles? |

Of the formats that Calibre can convert to mobi, what would you say Calibri converts best? Can they be ranked in descending order?

No it is not a Word format it is a completely reflowable document. At its core lit, mobi, and epub are all html based. That is why these are the top three. Properly formatted lit files are as good as they get, with table of contents that convert well to other formats. Of course if you grab up home grown lit/mobi/epub files that are basic trash then trash is what you get when you try to convert them.

What version of calibre are you running? What OS are you on? Do you have a ipod charging? Is the K3 seen by your OS as a usb drive? You can go to Preferences - Advanced and run debug device detection then post the results here for additional help. |

Hi,
I created some custom recipes and would like to back them up (as .recipe files). Does anyone know where these costum recipes are stored on the hard drive or how to easily back them up? |
