Just finished "Sizzling Sixteen" by Janet Evanovch....

It got some bad reviews on Amazon, and I hesitated buying it for that very reason.

Still, I managed to spit watermelon juice all over my K1 screen laughing at unexpected places. Took me exactly one day to read, and the only thing that makes me unhappy is that I'll have to wait probably another year before her next one comes out.

This just goes to show what I've always known....reviews are personal opinions, and people need to decide for themselves if a book is good or bad.

I just started "Buried Stuff" by Sharon Fiffer, which is apparantly the fourth or fifth in a series of mysteries. I picked it up at the library. Not sure how I feel about it yet.

I missed that the book club selected a book, I think I'll pick up "Killing Floor" from the library since I've enjoyed the other Reacher novels I've read.

This weekend I'm getting a library card from a library that has ebooks. So excited!

Finished the main story in The Invasion. I was a little surprised that it was a sci-fi novella coupled with, apparently, a mystery. Right now I'm reading Darkness on the Edge of Town by Brian Keene, still free at Amazon.

There's a whole sub-genre like that -- Asimov did a lot along those lines. The Foundation Trilogy is a bit mystery...

I know what you mean! When I finished the second book, I frantically pulled up the third one (luckily already downloaded) and read a few pages just to reassure myself it was ready to go.

I am currently reading [/i]The Third Option[/i] by Vince Flynn. It's a really good book. But the errors in the eBook edition are just rather annoying. I've stopped and corrected a bunch of errors and was able to search/replace a bunch more. So i am hoping the rest of it isn't going to be too error prone.

We are in Frankfurt today and leaving for Cologne early tomorrow morning, so I have been re-reading one of the last pbooks that I bought before I became unable to read. It is Map of Bones by James Rollins. I got it at Amazon for $2.99. It is a Dan Brownish mystery about some magical relics that were stolen from the cathedral. Sort of apropos.

OK, leaving Starbucks and the free wifi now. I'll check back whenever we find more free wifi.

I read the series in order. The first one wasn't bad, but by the third or fourth one, I bailed.

Congrats on your new library card!

Just finished "The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society" by Mary Ann Shaffer and Annie Barrows and found it delightful. Probably a "chick lit" book, but I hadn't known anything about the German occupation of Guernsey and I found the historical side of the story fascinating.

Just started "The Vanishing Act of Esme Lennox" by Maggie O'Farrell. Can't remember where I saw it reviewed, but it looked really interesting. It's beautifully written and I'm finding it hard to put down, even when it's late, I'm tired and my eyes are burning from being too long on the computer all day.

I hardly ever read reviews...and Stephanie Plum's adventures are on my TBR mountain. I read the first two and found them hilarious. Watermelon juice, hmm? Would have liked to have seen that!

I picked that one up at the library. They didn't have the whole series, so I just read that one, and am intending to search out the rest of the series, eventually.

I loved The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society! I learned a ton about the German occupation, as you say, and also found out I seem to have a weakness for books that have letters written back and forth between the characters.

Just finished Simon R. Green's new one, "Ghost of a Chance" . I was kind of disappointed, it wasn't as good as I had hoped. Too bloody for me, I think. I have "The Anteater of Death" by Betty Webb started, (wanted something lighter after all that blood), but I'm having trouble getting into it. I don't think it's the book, I think it's me.

Now onto Edison's Conquest of Mars by Garret P. Serviss, also 1898,and hailed as the sequel to War of the Worlds, albeit from an American perspective.

Finished "Small Gods" by Terry Pratchett late last night.

While there are a lot of chuckles, the book has some very serious points on ethics, belief and and the place of gods in the world.

I really should know better than to eat or drink anything while reading her.

Whats really funny is the way my husband jumps when we're laying in bed, he's watching tv and I'm reading.....a couple of real belly laughs out of nowhere and I'm threatened with eviction from our room.....
