I can read my purchased books via ADE and the Kobo desktop application. (Can also read them via the Kobo app on my BlackBerry). Don't usually read the eBooks on anything but my Kobo eReader, but it's nice to have the option to do some reading (or look something up) on computer/BB if needed.
Oh, and my #1 request for future firmware update: Instant on. |

I may be the odd one out but I am quite happy with v1.0 firmware. What I would like to know is: will I be able to update my firmware from 1.0 to 1.5 (or higher) without having to go through 1.4?

I'm of the same opinion as Zoran in the other thread in which you posted about the 1.0 -> 1.5 update, if you get an SD card update for doing 1.5 it probably won't make a difference but to do a USB update you probably would need 1.4. In the 1.4 update Kobo's team mentioned they improved the infrastructure for providing updates in the future, this probably means the future updates will require 1.4.
The Kobo team will have to keep users still on 1.0 in mind when they roll out the update, whether they provide a direct mechanism to upgrade from 1.0 to 1.5 or at the least provide the 1.0 to 1.4 update so that an update from 1.4 to 1.5 can be performed safely. |

Thanks JPenguin,
I got this answer from Kobo-Help: "Thank you for your message today. The next firmware upgrade will be a stepping stone that will need the 1.4 firmware for the upgrade to happen. You would be prompted to download the 1.4 prior to getting the next upgrade available after it." It seems that I will have to bite the bullet!! |

your own SD card, no need for any intermedial step. Since upgrade process writes over everything on the memory. That middle step is the consequence of the very nature of desktop software. Once to overcome the fear, everything is much easier, including upgrading firmwares for all devices you have. Heavy preparation for all variants, of course. Forums, tutorials, mailing lists. There is much pleasure out of it. And a lot to learn during that process. If you ask me, SD card directly to 1.5. Otherwise, to 1.4 immediately. |

Thanks Zoran,
I will finish my book (Berlin Noir, 680 pages & 70 to go!!) and will do the upgrade. More than likely I will go win +usb. |

Hi All
According to this post: https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...t=96072&page=2 (post by JCKobo) Kobo is working on moving to the next firmware update without having to go to 1.4 first. |

Hi Zoran,
sorry I misunderstood your question. I will keep an eye on the battery indicator and will report |

Any chance of fixing the epub support so that pages in the spine that are marked with the linear="no" attribute are skipped when paging through the book?! Having to page through hundreds of pages with one paragraph (or, quite often, one word) per page is getting really annoying (i.e., I have books with a page per footnote at the end of the spine, many of the footnotes in my current book just say "p. 56" or similar; the footnote pages are all marked linear="no" so a reader should skip them, but I'm having to page through them all to get it out of my reading list...)
Also, make – work; it currently displays nothing; "p. 55–58" shows up as "p. 5558" |

In the firmware upgrade I would life to see a button combination reset so I do not need a paper clip.

My wishlist:
smaller margins the ability to follow hyperlinks in text - eg footnotes & cross references |
