My name is VERY commonly misspelled. Even when I spell it. one . sloooooooow . letter . at . a . time, people get it wrong. I still get irritated after 55 years.

Well, Emily ends with a short vocal sound - I didn't think of a version that ends with a long vocal sound such as 'lee'

Besides, in 15 years, this will all be SOOOooo old fashioned that she'll never care. I mean -- what was the coolest thing in 1995 -- Usenet maybe? And where is it today?

1995... I think that's about the time I bought my first computer. And I dove into FirstClass bulletin boards almost immediately. But I wouldn't know what was cool then. I am not a cool person.

And Usenet is still around

I'm afraid if I saw that "in the wild", I'd be likely to pronounce it like Emie Lee, not Emily...
