No, not so far. Seems to work fine for the IPhone. I had a book bought from the Sony store that for some reason didn't work out in Stanza, it had the last line of each page almost disappearing below the screen. But when I put it into Txtr instead it worked fine.

That's because Stanza is using a very buggy rendering engine.

I still think txtr is better then Stanza. Stanza (IMHO) should either have the bugs fixed or go away.

Here is a screenshot of a book with 12px left/right margins so the right margin page number does not lay on top of the text. Not too bad overall.

Let's hope they don't deceive their customers and potential interested people once again. The German subforum took a harsh blow to see such a blatant case of vaporware coming.

I'm talking of course of their promised eBook device which should have been out in Christmas 2009 or so.

Try opening Lost Symbol by Dan Brown with txtr for ipad from your library. The weird errors won't stop displaying on screen.
To Crowl: is this what you mean by the strange errors?

One more issue: I was able to upload a drm (ADE) ebook i got from sony. It loaded fine on the ipad (txtr app). but i dunno why, none of my book covers are displayed.

*yawn* This again. Most of the major rendering engines (iBooks, Stanza, txtr) are perfectly sufficient. That was generally agreed upon by forum members in this thread here.

Probably should update the renders - both iBooks and txtr have had new versions since then. Either way, nice to see that Adobe books can now be read officially on the ipad without jailbreaking.

I've used it some and it's not too bad most of the time. Still does weird margin stuff with a lot of purchased books, but at least it finally has a night view. Next, dimmer?

Book covers and errors transferring 63 books

[QUOTE=thianliongpatpoh;1062634

One more issue: I was able to upload a drm (ADE) ebook i got from sony. It loaded fine on the ipad (txtr app). but i dunno why, none of my book covers are displayed.[/QUOTE]

Here is what i had to do to get the book covers (i have a mac) Once i uploaded my books to the website, I found an option to edit them, which includes an option to download the book covers. In my case that meant going to a Adobe Digital Editions file on my mac which stores thumbnails, and importing them one by one. Once that was done, the books downloaded to my iPad with the covers in tact. I had to delete and re-down some that i'd loaded earlier without the covers.

I transferred over 60 books that I have purchased from Sony to my iPad. I did run into errors with 5 of the books. I get a series of error messages each time i load them (3-4 messages) and i just click ok, until the messages stop, at which point 4 of the books can be read. One can't be read, and crashes the program.

The font and format rendering is quite rough, but the books are readable, and I am thrilled to rescue books I bought legitimately and thought were down the tubes forever once the Sony reader dies.

My guess is that's the way the eBook were made. The formatting on some is just awful and really does need fixing up. txtr does not do anything to override what's in the CSS/XML and if it looks bad, then it was made bad.

Slow, to return to the thread, but the popups I get with that epub are what I was talking about and I missed the point that they keep coming up as the two of them could be cleared and I was just adding a few books while trying out the app alongside the one I actually wanted to read.

Doing a bit more testing, it seems like the errors get repeated at a new section so you get them a lot as you start a book due to cover, contents, etc. and then you only see them when you change chapters.

The error starts with W_CSS_PARSE_ERROR in the style.css file for the particular novel due to syntax errors so it seems as if there are either bugs in the epubs in question and txtr needs better error handling or it is actually a problem with the txtr app itself.

[Edit - finally remembered to get screenshot off my ipad]

I finally got round to removing the drm from these books and the ones causing problems in txtr display just fine with both stanza and ibooks.

Font Size in Txtr App

Help! I have txtr up and running, and am able to transfer books to my iPad.
My problem is, that the font size is too small. I have changed the font size to Very Big in the settings, but I do not see any difference in my books (Epub). What am I doing wrong?

Hmm...maybe the small font is hard-wired into the ePub settings of the book-I'm not sure if Txtr can always override a font/size; depends on how it is called out in the ePub.
