The one with bigger screen, period. I tried 5 inch, 6 inch and eventually gave up and just preordered DX... or I had to preorder DX. Itis the only one on the market, unfortunately. Some of them render/reflow better, some of them support hyper links etc... But it doesnt matter if you document looks too small on the screen, especially if you read docs with graphs and table.

IFA Berlin is running and will show some new 9.7" devices like PocketBook 902/903 and others. Kindle DXG won't be alone next month; PocketBook will start shipping before the end of the year.

I cancelled my KDX order and will see what the 902/903 looks like. From what's know right now they are better than the KDX.

any idea on what the price could be for the 902 or 903?

It would be nice to buy something now, and wait for the better tablets coming out later (I read some would be mid next year). But without having to spend a large amount now.

Here is a discussion about the new PocketBook models. Somewhere in there may be some hint about price, but I'm not sure There is some discussion about pdf reading on PocketBook devices though.

I think it's a good idea to wait for more feedback on the 902-903 before buying. In the meantime, I'll keep reading pdfs on my laptop - or not reading them at all, more likely

sorry to be butting it and being my nosy self, i have to ask: have you guys considered the option of converting PDFs?
i know from experience it's a long and tortuous process but this way you can easily adapt the file to whatever eReader you have/want rather than let the PDFs dictate what reader to buy.
and it might not be as long or as tortuous if the PDF is already well-formatted.

Yes, but as you mentioned sometimes it's rather hard business to convert.
I already convert novels to read on the PRS-900 but won't do this for all my computer science books. Those would be better read on a big device.

I only tried it very recently, and it didn't go well at all. Or at least I didn't get a useable result for the time I spent trying and the book I was trying to convert. Might try again for another book I guess...

But will they come with pearl screens??? I guess no. LCD i guess and that is not quite an ereader but a tablet. Will they come with plastic eInk screens as they stated a year ago? Those screens are still not available in bulk and I dunno about contrast of those screens. I doubt they will be less than $400. They advertised them in about $500-$800 range before. The cost to manufacture good big ereader is still very high I guess. Amazon doesn't care about the cost of ereaders, it makes its revenue from selling books and subscriptions. And what about PocketBook? They can't sell their products below the cost. Plastic Logic failed, IREX failed. I hope Amazon monopoly will be destroyed soon, but I ve already waited too long for good ereader trying smaller ones. I ll give a try to DX. Well it comes with 30 days return policy anyway I guess in about two years we gonna laugh reading our old posts. Ereader's war has just begun and the prices will go much lower.

The PDFs that are easy to convert tend to be the ones that work fine with reflow, or just need the margins cropped out to look okay on the small screens.

Two-column journal articles with charts & tables don't convert well. Magazine PDFs are downright nightmarish. Even a number of mainstream novel have problems with headers & footers, and sometimes the fonts get really strange when converted. And sometimes they're locked against changes, or DRM'd; not everyone is willing to crack their ebooks before reading.

Unfortunately, the real solution is "convince content providers to use better PDF creation software, or offer their works in multiple formats," and that's not likely anytime soon.

i stand corrected i was referring only to novels and such. indeed charts, magazines, textbooks with pictures, columns and what have you are even more complicated than complicated
but i'd try to convert anyway. if a file doesn't look good to me, it takes the fun (and concentration) out of reading. so i relate very well to that.

Would you want to convert over 1200 PDFs? Much easier to find a reader that does a fair job of reading them.

No pearl screen with the first batch of devices; should come with second or third batch. They start with normal eInk; NO LCD !

Prices will be annoucend the German Book Fair (first weekend of october).

As Pocketbook isn't a hardware only company who knows their price calculations ?

PocketBooks new/upgraded pdf softwaare allows for reflow with the diagrams/pics to be in the flow of the text. In one of the videos floating about from the press conference they reflow a pdf and it shows a paragraph of text then a pic then a paragraph of text etc.
