More!
Much more, since I've had my jetbook, and before when I was using my Palm, I had started reading more than I ever read. It even slowed down all the speed reading I learned, but only cos I like to visualize when I read fiction. ![]() |

LOL! I read a 1600-page Count of Monte Cristo a couple of years ago... I enjoyed it, but it really was too large to comfortably read in bed.

Much, much more. Since I bought my Sony (end of May), I read more than 20 novels, plus some other books. Until then, I read maybe on non-technical book/year since about 25 years. And I continue to have a lot of pleasure to read

I probably don't read more, but I sure as heck read more new stuff!
I couldn't afford to keep up with my reading habits as even going to used book stores would be expensive. In addition, I couldn't carry enough books home from the library to keep up with my reading. Plus, there is always the concern over new authors. Yeah, I'd get books out of the library that sounded interesting, just to learn (to my weary back's dismay) that they weren't at all interesting. The same with buying books - even used ones - that sounded good [in the store]. So, a lot of times, I'd end up sticking only with authors with whom I was already familiar. Now, with the e-reader (and MobileRead!), I am exposed to so many more books: free ones all over the Internet, recommendations from here (and all other the 'Net), etc. I may be reading just a tad bit more because there is always a book handier than getting one from the library or the bookstore - but it is marvelous to have such access to new (!) authors and stories. I'm going to say "more".
Books are a hassle -- going to the store to pick one out, carrying it around or not carrying it around to read, having to have a place to stick them when not reading a stack of them, having to find someplace to put them when I'm done. There have been lots of times when I've wanted to read a new book but didn't because I still had a stack of old books to put away! Books are still a hassle -- going online, picking them out, putting in cc information, downloading them, sorting and tagging series in calibre, connecting my reader to copy the books over -- but because I don't have to deal with stacks of books when I buy a large batch, it's much easier to manage if I do it in batches rather than a couple at a time. All in all, it means I'm reading more because my reader is more portable than any of my books, it is more flexible in that I can read a couple of different genre books at a time for those times I suddenly realize I am not in the mood for whatever I have been reading, and I am not hindered by my desire to stop creating extra clutter in my house. ![]() |

Lots, lots, lots more. Eventually some kind people in white coats will probably come by and help me.
Reading more because - ebooks solve my significant space problem (there isn't any); - purchase and/or free download is an 'any time' activity; - I can carry my library with me and find a title to suit my mood; - I don't keep running out of objects to use as naff bookmarks! Obstacles to reading: work, and the addiction to buying cheap 2nd-hand pbooks for scanning & format shifting (this too may be solved by the kind people in white coats). |

After the first few weeks of excitment with my new toy when I was reading non stop - I've probably increased my reading overall because now I always have a book that I want to read.
Previously I would read my book if I could be bothered carrying it around. If what I really wanted to read was too big and heavy or just not with me then I would read a magazine, newspaper, the cereal packet, whatever and wish I was reading my book. Or sometimes the book I had with me was not really what I felt like reading right at that moment. The ease of downloading a new book is incredible and it's immediate! One of the first ebooks I read was The Girl with the Dragon Tatoo. When I finished I decided I wanted to read the others and within MINUTES I had downloaded them and started reading. Prior to my ereader I would have been frustrated that it was 7pm on a Sunday night and no bookshops were open. I would have looked at my diary for the week and realised that I probably wasn't going to have time to get them before Wednesday and been REALLY annoyed. With the ereader by the time Wednesday rolled around I had finished the 3 books and moved on to something else. |

I'm reading just about the same; it's just not costing me as much right at the moment because of all the free ebooks.
Instead of multiple paperbooks going at the same time, I now I have ebooks added to the mix. |
