Now, when Sony gives the OK to start speaking, there will be press photos and news all over the gadget blog scene.

As far as their timing is concerned, it may have been a little bad. It all depends on how big the announcement from Apple is going to be. Perhaps not a whole lot.

Just read your post. Doesn't seem to be a big deal if you ask me. Sony chooses the worst possible day and picks a Co-Host I've never heard of from a website I've never heard of. Hmmm, methinks Sony is shooting blanks. Otherwise, this would have been a huge event with great amounts of advertising. Instead they choose to go up against the press darling Apple so that whatever comes out of Sony's mamby-pamby event will get little coverage.

Apple could release iManure and they would get all the media coverage. They are the darling of the tech press world. As for as the tech blogs go, they long since lost any credibility. Sony has to make the announcement and they need to advertise it. This smells like a minor event, so I don't expect much from Sony this year.

Eh? Sony announce that they'll release new machines in the autumn. They set the date for the presentation as September 1st. That's tomorrow. In what way have they disappointed you?

I guess that just showed THEM. I'm sure they are so broken up over the loss that they will just close their doors, throw all the new units in the trash, and won't show up for their show-and-tell.

Now, if they remain silent tomorrow, perhaps one's impatience can be sloughed off onto Sony's shoulders. But I'd at least wait til then to teach them a lesson.

"briefing" doesn't sound like one-on-one to me. They probably invited a bunch of bloggers (I'm guessing someone from Mobileread will be there too). Maybe it will be something like the 2006 PRS-500 launch.

Let's hope there are good news tomorrow. I've already pre-ordered a kindle but I can always cancel my order if the 650 is coming in a week. The 600 model is sold out everywhere in my city and nowhere to be found. They need to stock their shelves immediately with new inventories or they can loose out on customers.
