Same here for Dead Forever, at least where I'm given the choice or I've convinced the distributor to drop it. Kindle and the variety of Smashwords editions of course, but I've also managed to get Ingram Digital to ditch DRM on most of my editions. The MS Reader edition remains "semi-encrypted," and one title in Palm format, but I've managed to put out the EPUB of both books in unencrypted format, at last, and appearing across a number of ebook retailers (all the usual online venues). Not sure about how things work at Apple yet. If only I had an iPad to study for myself. They sure don't make it easy to be a content provider. That is, without buying all their hardware (clever little devils).
Is Cyberdrome even listed at Sony? Neither of my titles has shown up, and they've been on Smashwords, premium catalog qualified, for months (Awakening since January). Is Sony even listing indie titles from Smashwords yet? I wonder. Or my titles are stuck somewhere in the distribution chain, for Sony anyway. Anyone selling through Sony? |

It has been there several months, but like I said, no one has bought from Sony yet (according to them) so it would be nice to hear if someone from MR buys a copy there and lets me know. Then I can track that sale and see if the site is working correctly. I posted this info on the "Boomerang w/coupon" thread, but I doubt everyone checks that out, so I hope it's okay to duplicate it here.
The regular price on Boomerang will be going to $2.99 as soon as Amazon and the other purveyors act on the updated info I submitted earlier today. I don't know how long it will take to go through, but for now it is at $0.99 or less everywhere but Smashwords. Thanks to everyone who has gotten Boomerang. I hoped to keep the price at $0.99 longer, but it's time to bring it more in line with "the market", and yes, Amazon's royalty structure had something to do with it. At thirty-five cents a copy it takes a lot of sales to do anything useful for the high school band program that gets half the proceeds. Thanks again and happy reading! http://boomerangbyalanhutcheson.blogspot.com/ Best, Alan |

![]() Regarding reviews, the Sony ebook store has it's own review section, and I currently have no reviews there. I have 16 reviews at Amazon (13 of which are 4- and 5-stars), one-5-star review at Apple, one 5-star review at Smashwords, and 5 positive ratings over at Goodreads. If you are a member of any of those sites, another review would certainly be welcomed. On the other hand, if you like the book, I would prefer that you just tell a friend about it or mention it online somewhere. I didn't write Cyberdrome to be famous and make millions, and I kind of like simple word-of-mouth promotion. I am a career scientist and writing is just a fun hobby for me. To be honest, I'm blown away that over 2,100 people have already read and enjoyed my little techno-thriller. That's around 2,090 more readers than I ever expected. ![]() Thanks again! Okay, Dr. Drib--I'll be shameless in my promotion. Genre: Mystery Author: Linda S. Prather Books: The Gifts, A Jacody Ives Mystery 99 cents on Amazon Kindle and Smashwords (free with coupon through the 28th, just enter the coupon code MS24A at checkout); and Sacred Secrets, A Jacody Ives Mystery - the prequel to The Gifts.
If you like traditional mysteries with a touch of paranormal and a smidgen of romance, then you'll love The Gifts. Originally published in 2006 by Echelon Press it was nominated for The David Award and was runner up in the Preditor's and Editor's International Contest for best new novel of 2006. I republished in digital in July of 2010, and also published the Sacred Secrets in July of 2010. What does a prostitute, nurse and old voodoo woman have in common? They're all three missing. And two of them are already dead. Check out, Sacred Secrets, A Jacody Ives Mystery. Is that shameless enough? Or do I need to gush some more? Thanks for the posting opportunity. Linda S. I've had a FREE e-book up on Smashwords since last November. Didn't do a lot of promotion as I'd put it up to sort of play with the format. It got some good reviews (unsolicited) and lots of downloads. Suddenly today my first lousy review! Two stars! I've lost my "highest rated sci-fi shorts" spot and am feeling a bit: Huh? It's a quick read medical/techno-thriller. Description is below. If you've got a couple of hours to kill, you could do worse than take a look. And I'd love a comment when you're done!
The Simulated Life Elapsed Experience Process aka The Death Trip -- "comfort care for the dying" or something more nefarious? After the death of his beloved grandmother, Chuck decides to investigate. He soon finds himself torn between two women -- the activist who suspects a dark agenda and the beautiful MD who helped create the process. |

Greetings, one and all.
Wanted to add my own plug to the thread. I am the author of THE WHITE SHADOW SAGA, an epic fantasy. Book One has been out for a few months now and Book Two is less than 2 months away. ...so a shameless plug for the second book in the trilogy 'SHAMELESS WONDERS'. The first book in the series is available in paperback and ebook: ![]() Paperback ($10.75 USD) Kindle version-US ($1.99) Kindle version-UK (1.51 GBP) Mobipocket ebook ($1.99) Smashwords ebook version ($1.99) **Pre-orders are now open for SHAMELESS WONDERS** Each copy comes with an exclusive art booklet. Book release is October 22, 2010. Pre-order here And for the audio version of THE STOLEN MOON OF LONDOR (also available on iTunes) About the series: The era of peace among the elves, men, and dwarves comes to an end when one of Londor's twin moons disappears from the heavens. Without the moon's balancing effect, evil forces grow bold, and warfare, sickness, and chaos threaten life itself. Hearing the prayers of desperation that ride on the violent winds, the ancient wizard Randor Miithra, servant to the elf-gods, takes it upon himself to mend the world he has sworn to protect. The task will not be an easy one, though, for the wizard, too, has begun to feel the effects of the world's imbalance. As Randor struggles to maintain some semblance of his powers, he meets a secretive band of colorful characters from all walks of life, drawn together by a common goal: to find the stolen moon, whatever the cost. It does not take Randor and his motley company long to see that someone or something does not want the moon returned to the heavens. The road is perilous...the stakes have never been greater...will they find victory...or will they only find their deaths? _______ If you like a good fantasy with lots of action, I invite you to give it a look. I only just saw your question in my weekly update email from Mobileread. Sorry to take so long to reply, I hope I haven't missed you. ![]() ![]() You can read either book first. The two lead characters from Passengers to Sentience get a mention in Passengers to Zeta Nine but not in a way that would confuse. They are introduced independently. The books are quite different in character: P2S is a bit of an SF crime caper with a twist at the end. P2ZNine is a pioneering colonisation story with more twists which hopefully take the story beyond my interest in the detail of what might go awry when two enthusiastic pioneers find a new planet. Hope this helps. Please do let me know what you think. I very much hope you enjoy your reading of them. If not, you could console yourself with reading the limerick book which is free on smashwords. And if that’s not to your taste, there’s the ultra short Ms Fixit, also free on smashwords. In the works I have a sequel to both books, which brings characters from both together. Meanwhile, I am also working on a completely different cyberpunk story. Last edited by Peter Salisbury; 08-27-2010 at 04:11 PM. |

My book's free, and it's not very good. Mediocre, at best.
That's my idea of a shameless promotion. The Stinging Tree is FREE at Smashwords https://www.smashwords.com/books/view/18751 |

With such great promotion, Luke, how can anyone fail to rush to Smashwords and immediately download your book and spend eight hours' precious recreational reading time on it? *Free* is no longer a forceful reason for reading, Luke. Neil |
