I must be a real contrarian as I find ragged right preferable to full justification, which on an e-reader would seem like a big block of (onscreen) text?

It's fine if it's done right, but the examples in the vid were horrendous. Wish the K3 had an option to toggle RJ. There is an option to change the number of words per line; maybe that helps. Will see when I get mine.

The Franklin device was given to me as a gag-gift. It had been found for $25 in the clearance bin at an Office Max (?) down in the US. Seeing as I had lined the walls of my apartment (halls included) with bookshelves, and was storing cases of books in 'mom's basement', the giver thought the idea of reading on this device to be laughable.

I did too, at first, but started reading a book. And then another and another. After I wore out the device (the rocker switch broke, I glued something to the remains and used that for months, then it too broke, and finally the battery cover broke), I switched to an ebookwise device. I had no probs with the font, or software - I felt the device to be MUCH better than the ebookwise, and the battery life was fantastic at the time.

Thanks for sharing the collection. I've enjoyed following the growth and development of ebook readers, and like many of you, I am keen to see new, more open and more polished devices in the future. I've got a Pocketbook 302 now (having planned never to get an e-ink screen) and am enjoying it more than the others I've had (though I do miss the backlight of the ebookwise).

At least those addicted to ebooks, when they turn to crime and the underworld, just take the product directly (darknet) - they don't break into cars, homes, etc, to find stuff to sell/trade for their 'fix'.

I had thought that I wanted full justification for my epubs on my PRS-505. After I read a few, I found (to my surprise) that I actually like the "ragged right".

A writer with that many devices is worth my money! (and I do happen to love Robert's book...)

I do agree with him on the full justification on the Nook. It does look horrible. In that case, I'd have preferred ragged edges...

I remember wanting the Rocketbook about 10 years ago. Don't know why I didn't buy it - guess I found it too expensive and buying it from Denmark may have been a bit more of a challenge then than it is now.

It wasn't until late 2005 when I got a PDA and a fellow student shared his ebook collection with me that I started to read ebooks.

Yes, that was a good example of when it's really badly implemented. And devices still have a way to go in general with implementing full justification that looks very well (and I guess books must have appropriate markup).

Changing the "words per line" is really just fancy wording for "increase/decrease margin size". At least that's how it works on my K2.

I prefer ragged right for the main text of my ebooks. It works better with smaller screens since full justification can lead to large gaps between words, especially when combined with larger fonts.

Same here! Couldn't find it on ebay or anything, and those US unlocking sites weren't really there yet, way back then. But I did find the Franklin Ebookman on ebay and bought that that one. It got replaced with a PDA later.

I've never had any problems with that, not on my PDA, nor on my JE100 (both use Mobipocket, though the screensizes are different). On my BBMini I use PDF.
