Well, that's a fine thing. Some just won't do the update???

I'll have to give them a call, because I don't think that Dell will "exchange" mine after all this time.

Thanks for posting all the information about your contact with them, cypressraven.

I updated my firmware today and I cannot get it to open B&N epub.

Even if Libre were to be able to read B&N epub... isn't the main problem with B&N is the fact that they do not tell you what format you are buying? It could be epub or it could be PDB.

Does it ask for name and cc #?

No it doesn't. I downloaded one B&N epub onto my blackberry and it did ask for cc# confirmation and then it opened right up. But on both tries on my Libre it just tells me "Failed to open". Just to make sure I'm talking about the right thing its software v0.18g and patch v18. I've been doing just fine without being able to read B&N epubs so I guess its not that big of a deal.

I updated my Libre also from v15k straight to v18g, and it went without a hitch. But even when I copied the device.xml file into the Libre, when I connected the device to ADE, it still asked me to authorize it anew. I did and downloaded two books without problems. I wonder how many firmware upgrades I can do before I run into the limit of ADE authorizations!

OK, in an attempt to duplicate yer fail, science, ya know , I tried pressing the
power button and the '>' key ten times before getting the firmware update screen. Apparently, the last two upgrades I've gotten it by sheer luck in 3 tries.

After a lil fiddling I have determined the following: 1) press the '>' key and hold.
2) press the power button for no more than 2 seconds while continuing to hold down the '>', release the power button after two secs. 3) continue holding '>'
for 6 additional seconds, I say 6 because I was saying one, one thousand
two one thousand... and it took me to six one thousand for timing.
This works everytime, I did it three times in a row.

Regards, mark

Ah....thanks so much. But in my impatience, and since I was still in warranty, I sent to Aluratek. Hopefully this will help the others who have had trouble. Thanks for working on it.

no prob, sorry yer deprived of yer ereader for the turnaround time, but I think you will find it worth the pain, I was really irritated when I first got mine with the lack of functioning TOC and content search, now I'm happy as can be. Aluratek seems to make an honest effort to address deficiencies, but, a mere 15 minutes by QA or the documentation people could have saved many people unneeded aggravation.
