Anyone getting a shipping date on their K3? - Page 28

Anyway. It's my very first e-reader and I'm just amazed! The screen really looks like paper. That's not just marketing talk! I'm so super happy. It's much better than I expected.

I spent the past week looking carefully for books I always wanted to read that are free and found around 150 so far. That's probably just the tip of the iceberg. The money I saved on those books even if I just read half of them more than makes up for the price of my Kindle.

I got the unlighted cover (I never used a booklight so why would I suddenly have to on an artificial book?) and it's really nice. I understand why it has this price now, too. The leather and finish feels really nice and justifies the price entirely.

Just started reading The Picture Of Dorian Gray...I forgot I wasn't reading a book so fast I can't believe it. Plus, the dictionary function really helps when reading older and more sophisticated books if you're not native. Before I always had to check words on the Internet or in translators...now I can do it in a matter of seconds.

Sorry about the fanboy talk but I have not been that happy about a cheap product like this in the recent past.

Glad you are happy. The K3 isn't my first reader (I have had all 3 iterations of the kindle) and I am still pretty pleased. I understand your excitement completely. Enjoy.

I ordered mine Aug 4.
It was to be shipped Aug 27.
On Aug 26, I get e-mail saying it has been shipped !?
On Aug 27, it arrives !!!

According to the trace, UPS tried a delivery, and a message says:

"Delivery attempted. Signature is required to complete delivery. Please see carrier notice for next delivery attempt or contact the carrier"

Now I did work late yesterday, but my wife was at home all day with one of my sons which had a cold. Also, I couldn't find any carrier notice, traversing the UPS-site I need a number on that notice to redirect it to a UPS location or something to ensure that I get it. I guess I'll just need to call the UPC customer care first thing monday.

Anyone experienced something like that, and is there any tips on getting things done right onthe package on monday?

Btw. It's pretty awesome, that they almost made delivery on release-date !

I've had that once, where I could see online that they had attempted delivery, but they didn't leave a card. I just sorted it out over the phone and arranged a new delivery time. The difficulty was that the normal phone line for setting a new delivery time was automated, so I needed to get their proper customer services number off the web site.

I'm glad for you; mine was ordered the same day and it shows no sign of being worked on- it went partially on "shipping date 27th" mode the other day and then it went back to "we'll tell you". CS has been quite rude (I did tell you that a lot of the "second batch" people here signalled that they already had theirs shipped, but apparently it's not worth a straight answer).

i'm starting to think they're taking care of whoever's closest and chose the fastest shipping. juliette i'm in europe too. i ordered my K3 on August 5, and i never had an estimate date (other than the one on the K3 page when i placed my order -- September 4). the message is always "we'll let you know when..."
waiting is just so hard, especially when you hear so many rumours about this batch and that batch and happy owners gushing over their K3s

Mine arrived by Royal Mail this morning at 07:50 when I was at the bus stop getting a bus to town, but hubby had stayed home. It was literally 10 minutes after I left the house (good job really, as I would never have got to my appointment this morning playing with my new toy!)

Now in the case, that arrived Thursday, and charging.

Hubby is interested in my K2i so I need to find some stuff he'd like to read.

Closest would make sense for GErmany too, because that's where UPS gets Amazon Shippings to in Europe. Yes, it's hard

just to understand what's happening better, mine was a wifi only model- did you get the 3G+Wifi one?

I can't hope so, because they usually tell you first when it departs from the US: from Indianapolis to Louisville to Koeln to (in my case) Bergamo and Milan- I'm quoting the DXG tracking history, assuming the warehouses and the procesures are the same. The good news is that the UPS site says they sent to the appropriate custom office all the documents on the first day, when the shipment is sent to the carrier, so it's a bit speedier.

I ordered mine on Aug 2th from Italy, just yesterday my order was upgraded to :

Not yet shipped
Shipping estimate: August 30, 2010
Delivery estimate: September 1, 2010 - September 3, 2010

According to UPS tracking my Kindle has been bouncing back and forth between two different depots (Gloucester & Ottawa, Ontario) all day on Friday. I could have easily driven to either depot as both are about 30-minutes from my house - in different directions. Delivery is still scheduled for Tuesday August 31!

Same here. I ordered mine on Aug 3 and had a 27th ship date and now nothing.
