Well, I can only run it with the .msi file (what you install it with in the first place). I understood what you meant, but I guess I can try again.

have you tried turning everything off that starts when your computer starts? And I do mean everything. All services installed since you got the computer, all antivirus, spyware catchers, firewalls, anything that runs on startup.

Like, through msconfig? It's worth a shot, at the least.

The only thing I can suggest is another install of XP and then another install of BD with the 07/30/2007 update to follow. By the way, did you update your BD and if so, what dated update?

Erm...

Every time I re-install it, I use 7/30/2007.

I can just back it up and re-install XP. No biggie.

When you reinstall, you do use the 4.0 msi file and then copy 07/30/2007 over it right?

The only other option I can see is to maybe start over with a fresh Windows XP install.

As do I. At any rate, it's working now, so I'm not complaining.

For future reference by other people having this problem, you might have to re-install windows too, so backup your data, do a fresh install, and restore your data.

What I've done in the past if renamed documents and settings, Windows, and Program files and then installed. I was then able to pull all the data I needed from the old directories was all good to go without losing too much. I would never reformat the drive. That's just asking for trouble.

Go figure. I don't know too many ways to do that on a multi-partitioned hard drive.
