Could anyone please post pics of the browser, and your impressions of the things the browser handles well... and its limitations?

thank you!

Thanks Erinath!! The videos were great! I am so anxious for tomorrow to get here! The screen is sooo much sharper than the K2!

If I go to sleep early, will tomorrow get here faster? (It never really worked for Santa Claus...)

Erinath: thanks so much for the time spent in making your excellent videos! great stuff for those of us who have a bit of a longer wait. I'm in Australia, so, although I ordered on July 28, mine won't arrive until around 1 September.

i'm curious. why would you need more than 4 gb of memory. that's room for an awful lot of books even with an average size of 500 k each!

Being able to put books on it without connecting it to a computer for one. You can put the card into your computer load it up when your kindle is not at the computer and just slide it into the unit when you are on the go. It's kind of cumbersome to have the unit connected to the pc/laptop

I agree, a memory slot would be most useful. Connecting the Kindle to the PC is somewhat cumbersome as opposed to just having a memory card to transfer the files to. They had it on the K1 so why they removed it is a bit of a mystery.

If you've got PDF-files stored as images and not text they're going to be a lot larger than just 500k.

Doesnt a memory stick simply increase the number of processes to get a book loaded? PC - stick - kindle?

Bah - memory sticks! I like the idea of adding on the storage to suit your own personal needs but if I'm having to fiddle about with taking a memory stick out and plugging that into the PC - well I may as well just plug the whole Kindle in.

What I really want to do is just wirelessly transfer whatever ebooks I want from Calibre, straight to my Kindle. I know there have been mentions of using dropbox as a server so I may investigate this further although I'm not great at working out technical things!

I think we're talking about two different things. A memory stick is quite bulky as opposed to a memory card that doesn't take any room. A lot of computers comes with built in card readers today.

You would not have to transfer the book once it's on the memory card, the Kindle should be able to read straight from the card without a transfer to the Kindle first.

Another scenario. You would like to compile a list of books (drm free) and give to your friend. Very easy to just give a memory card with the books on and the friend could just plug in the memory card and start reading.

Anyway, I'll just get a US charger, it will only be $5 with the discount, but I still think Amazon should offer a free charger for every Kindle.

Well, anyway, now I'll go order mine, I do regret not having ordered when it was first available for preorder. If I had done that it would probably be here in the next few days.
It comes with the USB cable and you can probably buy a USB-electric outlet plug in a store that carries electric gadgets.

I have several USB plugs laying around, but the Kindle branded one is kinda nice.

Anyway, I went to order it yesterday and found that the power adapter can't be shipped with the Kindle, probably because it's a pre-order, so it would double the shipping costs, which aren't cheap.

So I will just order the Kindle and use one of my spare plugs for now.

Thanks for the help.
