I received an email advising me that the item is being shipped just over twelve hours ago. Estimated delivery date is 1st of September, which is acceptable I guess, considering the destination is New Zealand.

My Graphite 3G will arrive tomorrow. I ordered on the 28th, changed to one day shipping last weekend. Ordered case with light last weekend with one day shipping - it will arrive tomorrow too.

Now I can stop hitting refresh on my Amazon order page. <g>

Just realized something - I can't tell if the FedEx shipment requires a signature. Does anyone know if it does? If so, is there some way to generate a notice and leave it on my door? I really don't want to miss work but I'm thinking about it...

It depends on 2 things:

1) Amazons contract with Fedex.
2) Fedex and you.

I know for a fact that Amazon's contract with UPS only requires a signature if the item is over $700 and even then it's at the driver's discretion.

As for #2, it depends if you've been marked as a 'don't trust this address and require everything have signature confirmation' by Fedex. Or if you have a 'no signature required' release form with Fedex.

I'll bet ya $1 confirmation won't be required

And FWIW, I ordered Graphite Wifi on August 20th w/ a mid September Release via Prime 2 day shipping.

I just updated my shipping speed to 1 day and my delivery estimate is now August 27th!!!!

If I update the shipping speed back to 'free' 2 day prime, the estimate goes to August 30th.

changed my payment card and now shows delivery on Mon or Tuesday. Graphite wi-fi model order August 1st before 8PM deadline with two day shipping. Astoria, Or (about as far to the west you can go!). Our orders usually route through Portland and delivered next day.

Sigh . . . Still showing shipping soon. I ordered a graphite wi-fi model on July 30, and am an Amazon Prime customer. That means I usually get things overnight, or 2 days at the most. But my kindle seems to be stuck.

PS My helpful husband said Amazon is doing this just to drive me nuts. It isn't Amazon that is driving me nuts!
