Yes. I loved it. I'd agree it may not be here best but it is very very good!

The Lies of Locke Lamora by Scott Lynch.

It was recommended in a thread on fantasy books here on Mobileread. I hope I enjoy it!
And it was enjoyable, if a bit bloody in places. When I start buying again, I'll probably bear Scott Lynch in mind. I wasn't overly fond of the interweaving of chapters and backstory 'interludes'. Unless there's some every good reason (which I don't think there was in this case) I rather prefer linear narrative.

And now onto the last few issues of Jim Baen’s Universe magazine. A valiant attempt to set up an on-line/ebook only professional-rate SF/Fantasy magazine. Unfortunately, they've had to close their doors after four years, as they hadn't been able to pick up enough subscribers. I suspect they were just a little early.

I have the last five issues of volume 4 to read. I've finished #2 and now I'm on #3.

For anyone interested in SF/Fantasy shorter works (although they do have serials too), all 24 issues are now available at the bargain price of $30.

Jonathen Lethem

Listening to the delightful, funny, and smart neo-noir Motherless Brooklyn by Jonathan Lethem--doesn't seem to be available for ebook though.

The unabridged version of that one, read by Frank Mueller, is my absolute number one audiobook recommendation!

I have two e-books out from the library:

Color: A Natural History of the Palette by Victoria Finlay

The Bucolic Plague: How Two Manhattanites Became Gentlemen Farmers: An Unconventional Memoir
by Josh Kilmer-Purcell

Just finished Nightfall by Asimov.

Now reading Frozen Tracks by Ake Edwardson. I'm not usually fond of translated books but I'll try this one.

Didn't start on Atonement after all, I went for something lighter, Ethan of Athos by Lois McMaster Bujold.

And I just saw on the Amazon site that the book I ordered on Final Cut Studio has been delivered. Can't wait to get home!

Be sure to let us know how you like it! It's not a "Miles" novel, although a couple of characters sneak in there. I liked it, although I had finished all of the Miles novels before I went back to it.

Ah, thank you for mentioning that. I was a little surprised not to find him, given that it was part of a "Miles" package of three books from Baen. I might have waited for him to appear till the end of the book

Amazon blurb for The shot to die for -
In this fast paced thriller, Iraq’s top terrorist makes two promises – a kidnapped American contractor will be executed on a given date, his body dumped in Baghdad’s Green Zone and a major attack will occur in seven days.

Working desperately to find the American and thwart the impending attack is an elite 4-man CIA team which includes an attractive female doctor. But they can only watch helplessly as the terrorist and his masked henchmen behead the American during a live video feed carried on the Internet.

What they don’t know is that one of the masked men is not a terrorist, but completely innocent. He is an Iraqi pharmacist who has infiltrated the group. His only objective – to find his missing fiancée, who the terrorist has also kidnapped.

After the beheading, he is free to go. But little does he know that his girlfriend will bring the American head to the Green Zone, and inside the dead man’s mouth is evidence linking him to the terrorist.

With the clock ticking, the CIA team knows that their only chance to stop the terrorist rests with the pharmacist and his beautiful fiancée. But can they really be trusted?

Knocked off three Star Trek novels in the past couple days, trying to clear out my Fictionwise TBR pile. Now I am reading 'Risen' by Jan Strnad for my next Smashwords review.

Just starting All Together Dead, Sookie Stackhouse #7. It's a pretty good series, but I still kind of like True Blood better.
