Stayed up a bit late last night watching "Repo man" with the wife.

Just found out that I managed to wash my jeans with a usb pen in it.
I thought this is it that memory is ruined. To my surprise it still works.
How on earth that is possible after being in the washing machine for
an hour I'm not sure of. Usb pen memories are very sturdy built.

About a month ago I accidentally washed the remote control for my cable box that was bundled in a blanket from the couch.

It didn't work right off, but after a day of drying out it works just fine. A replacement was going to cost me $50.00.

The remote control was washed, not the cable box.

All a USB key has to do is remember the last thing it was told. Also it has no power source of its own to corrupt e.g. a battery. If your phone had a microSD card in it, however, that should have survived.

A USB pen is plastic housing around Nand flash memory. There's nothing about that that going through the wash will break.

All USB drives aren't created equal, and I can imagine cases where going through the wash would kill one, simply because the housing was flimsy. (I've seen things like that in SD cards from no-name manufacturers, where the housing for the card came apart.)

But for the most part, they're pretty resilient.

It's a community center. There is already a Mosque 2 blocks away from the "burlington coat factory site" that has been there for 40 years... which I think is longer than the towers where there.
