Over 10 gig's total with over 20,000 different books.
Mostly .rtf's and .txt's with a few unconverted .pdf's and .lits. I have 3 different backup's going back 3 years, with the most recent backed up on 2 double layer dvd's. Recently added all the Baen CD's to that list. Been reading a lot of David Weber and John Ringo the last few months. Like you Harry I would very much prefer not to lose my library. ![]() |

I'm one of those hoarders who grabs big archives of stuff and stores them away, so I have many. How many, I have no idea. I'd say at least 30 GB, much of which is multi-megabyte PDF versions. The text files will be well under 1 MB on average. So, overall-- probably well over 10,000, probably less than 50,000.
Edit-- for anyone who doesn't know, here's a quick (assuming that you have broadband-- if you have dial-up it would be a 3 week download) way to have around 30,000 books (I don't have this download, it doesn't count in the number I gave.) http://www.gutenberg.org/wiki/Gutenb...nd_DVD_Project Last edited by ardeegee; 08-20-2010 at 01:35 PM. |

I have about 4100 books in my library right now and growing. 75% of this collection is unread which means I can't talk - gotta go read!

You hoarders make me laugh [in a good way :-)]. Seems human nature is still wanting to have "things", even if those "things" are simply electrons ;-)

You should see how many movies and TV series I have hoarded away-- probably between 500 and 1000 DVD-Rs full. To my best guess, I have enough backlog to watch constantly 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, for a full year.

Around 2000, but maybe 400 of those are PDFs from when I got my last degree. I still refer back to them occasionally, believe it or not.
I've tried to convert all other files into epub format, as well as keeping their original format. R. == |

I'm a newbie to the scene. I think I only have around 85-100 ebooks at the moment, but my collection is growing rapidly

I'm sitting at about 150 and I've only read two short stories so far. I was halfway through a real book when I bought this thing and I've decided that I have to finish it before I start anything new. I read everyday in my lunch hour to try and get the book done (at least its a good book) so I should be starting on the stack soon.

1221. As of today, that is. Each and every one of them is a squeaky-clean legally acquired copy, whether purchased or free download.
Just over half of them come from Baen. Guess who's gotten the bulk of my eBook-buying dollars... |

745 according to Calibre.
However, at least 70 of them are library e-books that I've read, and deleted the file in Calibre, but their metadata remains for my tracking/rating purposes. |

About 1000 that I've bought.
25,000 From the Munsey's Masks DVD collection. (The latest ePub DVD set is gorgeous--they fixed the metadata. So I just reordered the Mobi version.) 14,400 Gutenberg files that I prettified and converted to LIT and mobi. So it's anything from 1000-80,000. ![]() Most realistically, 26,000 or so. Edit: Obviously I don't expect to read them all. But every once in a while I just load one up at random to see what I get. Whichever catches my momentary fancy. Can be fun. If I read a book a day, it will take me roughly 685 years to read all the books in my library.
I began downloading over a year ago, and download every night over a very fast fibre optic connection. Obviously I won't read all the books I've collected, and certainly there are duplicates, but right now, stored in two separate external drives for back-up, as well as the already read books stored in the Calibre library, I have 232Gb of books, of which there are 248,982 separate books, and 13,000 folders of collections. Can you say 'obsessed?' *grin* Stitchawl |

I'm retired; I have plenty of time to read. The free books I downloaded will allow me to try them out. If I find I do not like an author, the other books of her/his I have are history. It's not quite the same as hoarding.

Around 120+, and I've had an e-reader since late Nov 2009. I've bought most of those but some have come from places like Manybooks.net and mobileread. I've read about half, I suppose, which means I have to revise my "book a week" prediction upwards.
(I'm not counting a couple of discs from ebay which contain thousands of titles; most ot those are already in various public domain places.) Getting an e-reader has (no pun intended) rekindled my love of reading. I haven't read this voraciously since I was a teenager. I love it. |

By "have" do you mean have a license to use, or do you mean possess in the sense that I can do what I want with it?
