The combination of "recluse" and "somewhere in my own head" fit the profile of "author," though "fiend without a face" and your avatar image would not coincide with "romance." Must be Dr. Phil's plastic surgeon.

I am a temporary worker, doing clerical work, mostly. Or, I will be, first job's Monday. I was working in a school, but we moved and with the school year starting they haven't hired aides yet. I'm hoping to get on somewhere permanently, whether in a school or an office somewhere.

But do you really think teachers don't have to use all kinds of creativity to help students learn? I know there are lousy teachers out there...just like there are lousy artists. But some teachers are incredibly creative in their efforts to reach students. I had a friend in college who was taking Education classes, and she said one of her classes was all about finding creative ways to explain things - they explored examples and metaphors, as I remember (for example), having to exclude using certain common works to describe things, forcing them to come up with other ways to make a point. I know when I have to train people at work, I have a hard time with that. I'll describe a process that seems crystal clear to me, and for certain people (who don't learn the same way I do), I get a total blank stare. I've actually had to go find someone else in the department sometimes to see if they could phrase it differently. So I admire anyone who can not only teach, but shape their methods to the way the student learns best... |

Hi,
I am a data analyst for a school board. I also support the student records, library and transportation systems used. I have been in a computer tech job for 25 years. With the changes that I have seen over the years, I wonder what it will look like when I retire in 15 to 20 years. Ken |

What my job is not, is artistic. That is why so many of us 'techies' are also writers, photographers, painters, and sculptors, etc. |
