I never considered killing anyone because of their viewpoints and I think it would be rather difficult to kill someone with an iPad. I suppose you could sneak up and whack them from behind with it but only a very lucky blow would knock them out otherwise it would just piss them off. Personnally I would use a Windows Mini-Tower, it has much more mass and you could swing it from the power cord to gain velocity. Plus if you should miss you're far enough away to run for the car.

It's funny the way that whenever I see an interesting new topic it's always already been running for long enough that the thread has deviated into some way-out and microscopically finnicky side track. I have no thoughts on Apple or whatever it is you're all now on about, and don't care to have any. Yes. I know, always late to the party & always first to leave. My 2c, it's really just half a cent on the original topic is that to me it's off-putting to have a phone as part of a book. So, no, I don't buy it that smartphones will dominate. I think it might go the other way, that is, towards simple phones without too much gadgetry, plus another device that's more your tech home base for reading/recording experiences. |

If there were an Windows/Linux/Android tablet at the same size/weight/battery life/price, I think it would also sell very well, but there isn't ... yet. When a proper Android tablet comes out (as opposed to the current poor quality devices) I would expect it to sell well, although probably not as well as the iPad at first, because of name recognition and the established ecosystem around Apple devices. | |

A smartphone moment in time today.... Dragged out my Omnia for a bit of reading whilst waiting for the train home. Fire up Mobipocket and get stuck into a Edgar Rice Burroughs omnibus gained free from Mobileread. Five minutes of reading....enjoyable.... Minute 6 - SMS Minute 7 - appointment reminder Minute 11 - email notification pop-up Minute 14 - incoming phone call from lady wife... Now if I had one of my readers, I would STILL enjoying uninterrupted reading and not dismissing distracting pop-ups and pushing the answer call button (well I would have got the phone out for that call!) |
