SAP: Systems, Applications, Products or Such A Pain or Select Another Package there are hundred of other possible meaning Still confused? Don't worry, so is everybody SAP R/3 is an integrated system designed to manage all administrative and support activities of enterprises worldwide. The main functional areas supported are Finance, Controlling, Purchases and inventories, Sales, Production. Its main advantages are the ability to support business requirements of large international corporations in almost any country, and to allow data to flow seamlessly from one end of the business chain of operations to another, for instance, from order-taking to delivery, billing and collection, where any relevant information is only entered once and carried through the whole process to the accounting and reporting modules.

I'm an "assistant" at a very small construction company my family owns, I do a little bit of everything from computer repair, errands to bank deposits and stuff like that. I need to get a new job soon as we are closing down, the company only existed for 2 projects and they are finished. |

The "I tried" was in reference to sneaking your age out of you Soft and "pudgy" .... pudgy?! It is soft and "cuddly", and doubles as a snow suit. I also grabbed it for the next psock puppet craze around here.

My primary source of revenue is making printing plates for the graphic arts industry. I'm not a graphic artist (well, could be called that), rather the fellow who takes all that artists can imagine, which they put into a page layout application, and manage all the technical details so a printing press can actually bring the design into reality. Of course, these days that also includes using and maintaining computer systems that drive our graphic workflow. Gone are the days of Letraset and x-acto knives; it's all computerized now, as are so many other industries. For those speaking of retirement, I'm in no hurry personally since I enjoy my work so greatly. Working until the body says "no more" is likely but not so much out of necessity. I'm having a good time so far. For those responding who have retired, it would be relevant, I think, to say what you were doing that got you there. It is, after all, still your source of income I presume whether or not you are still actually engaged in the activity. Besides, it brings more to the conversation. If not what you do, what did you do all those years? |

I was neither a test pilot nor a commercial pilot so I can't say. I'm sure commercial pilots are trained to downplay any malfunction. A lot of passengers are already pretty scared on a normal day. I flew the A-10 (Warthog) while in the AF. Now I am testing F/A-18 simulators that go to the USN as well as some foreign air forces.

That is one of the best things about my job, I work in others peoples offices. And to get there I may spend anywhere from 2 to 4 hours (sometimes much more) driving. Depending on the job and the distance they may fly me to the site. But mostly it's less than 4 hours of roung trip driving. Thanks to the tips about downloading audiobooks on this site I now enjoy every minute of the drive, whether it's in stop and go city traffic or cruising along through mountains and forests. The only downside is that you may miss an exit or two. To anyone that faces a long boring drive each day I strongly recommend setting up your car to play audiobooks from your library. If I had to pay for the audiobooks I would still be listening to the radio. " Staring at computer screen for that long makes me sick.... I cant understand how IT people can do that.... " IT work can be more fun than you may think. Most of the time you aren’t sitting at "your desk" doing the same old thing. You can have interesting problems to solve too. And sometimes you have to try really hard not to laugh out loud at somebody making $100,000 or $200,000 more than you. But more often you're over worked, under staffed, under paid, and have a lot of people telling you that THEY have to have THEIR problem solved before anyone else. All in all though, I enjoyed it. I was an NT MCSE with most of my Win2000 MCSE done when I gave it up. The fun part just wasn't enough in the end. Then too, looking for a new network job for someone over 50 in 2000 - 2001 was more than a little difficult.
