Re-download all my new books from Amazon and then transfer over my collections. Then start a fresh book and marvel at the screen.

The first thing I'll do is make sure it's fully charged, configure the WiFi, and start reading one of the books I've already ordered.

I'm also quite curious to see how well the Amazon lighted cover works. I keep having second thoughts about ordering it because I'm concerned it won't light the screen that well, but I'll probably keep it in my order and take my chances with it.

K3 being my FIRST dedicated eReader ever, I think I'll start charging it, while configuring wifi, while transferring some books, aaaaand will probably have to test samples/bying from the K3. And reading, reading, just reading, and ..
P.S. Also a bit exited about the lighted cover - a bit worried since I saw the video on youtube, but lets see in real life.
Cheers

I'm going to introduce my new mistress* to my current mistress*... don't think my current mistress* is going to take it too well... I foresee "severe self-esteem deflation" ahead.

Then I'll have no choice but to go to bed with my new mistress* and kick my ex* out of home... I'm sure my mum will feel sorry for her though and take her in. Or maybe my wife will feel like some girl-on-girl action, in which case my ex* will sleep on my wife's side of the bed... I'll then have 3 ladies in bed with me :-S

* I'm married and spend more time awake in bed with my K2i, than I do with my wife.... so yeah I consider my Kindle to be my mistress :-S

Me too. I'm really hoping the lighted cover works well. I've got a clip on light for my K1 that I can't seem to get to work right. Even having a lamp on in the evening generates too much heat when it's 90+ outside, so reading with just the little LED light is appealing.

I plan to christen mine with some Asimov -- maybe "The End of Eternity" :-)

I can relate; Hubby calls my Kindle "E.B." (Electric Boyfriend).

The first thing I'm going to do is wait for all the books I sent from Manage Your Kindle to download. Then, I'm going to add a bunch of DRM-free books from Calibre. Next, I'll to synch collections from my DX and sort out any strays. Then I'm going to finally read something.

Well due to advice given in a thread I started, I shall charge the battery, then I'll configure wifi and work out how the sync works with Amazon and the Kindle (my first Kindle), I've read the user guide a few times already. I'll test the wifi and see how it will interact with the web and my local lan (especially the Calibre web server). By then the wife should be home from work so I'll spend the entire evening going "look at my new toy" every 5 minutes until she threatens me with my life (or worse, break the Kindle).

Then perhaps a day or two later once the thrill has worn off I might actually sit down and actually use the Kindle for reading.

The first thing I'll do is connect it to my laptop to charge, then turn it on and marvel at the 50% better contrast on the Pearl display. Next I'll configure the Wi-Fi and initiate a download of a few books in my Archive. While the books are downloading I'll pull the plug on my WAP and see how seamlessly it switches to 3G. Then I'll plug the WAP back in and see how seamlessly it switches back to Wi-Fi. Next up will be playing with the browser to see how much faster and more improved it really is. Finally, I'll sync the book that I'm currently reading on K2PC, put it in the new Amazon cover, and stay up all night finishing the book.

I can't wait (as others) to test the lighted cover and see if it's good enough for reading in the dark with my hubby snores away!

I'm going to take it with me on a trip to the Netherlands. First, I'll let it make time fly as I'm trapped in a tiny seat for 10 hours. Then I'll see how the 3G works overseas. It would be great if I could use Google Maps.

Unbox it?

JK, it will be my first Kindle, so the first thing I will do is turn in on and probably get impressed by the last gen screen, then start messing with it to see how it works, because I have never used or even seen a Kindle in person.
