Lattice is indeed better in regards to the specs but what is the price ?
Anyone has any screens / small videos where you can observe the quality of the screen ?

8" and 1024 x 768 pixels sounds large enough to view A4 pdf files, yes? Sounds interesting if the pdf display works well. It could be a good complement to a 5" reader.

Not really. I find reading A4 pdf files on a 9.7'' too much of a hassle, especially if it is a non OCRed article with multiple columns (you need to scroll up and down for several times to read every column). But, with a rotating function, reading ordinary OCRed books should work just fine.

It's the Lattice device I would be interested in if it were to come out before the Adam-tablet. I want the Pixel QI screen for my next reader/tablet. The feature to be able to surf/browse like normal and still switch to a comfortable reading mode is very attractive from my point of view.

They announced that the Lattice will be priced at around $550 and the Papyrus at $330. I personally would get both of them . I especially like the fact you can choose which OS you would like to have on your Lattice.

550$ ... Then I think price wise and quality wise (?) it's maybe better to buy an ipad
The 330$ for the papyrus is a good price and might make it a very competitive product

For me it would be worth paying $550 to get a Pixel QI screen, hence the Lattice. No QI screen no money from me

There is a video here displaying a web page. Interesting, it doesn't appear to have any buttons on the device.

Well, if the LCD screens don't cause you too much eye strain , then you should probably go for an Ipad. But, bear in mind that Pixel Qi is much more comfortable for reading.

Same here . But something bothers me... I'm wondering if the Pixel Qi is really so easy on eyes as they say. I've read elsewhere, from persons who actually bought the Pixel Qi screen replacement for their netbooks, that reading is still much more comfortable on e-ink screens.

Since it's meant to be a handheld device, they might have put the buttons at the back (like the mousepad on the Adam tablet), or at the sides.

I guess it's a compromise, I don't expect the QI screen to be as good as an e-ink screen just as long as it's a lot better than the backlit lcd mode. It's also a big plus to get a screen that works outdoors.

<Latest Update for Papyrus> Sales date: Early October

I'm interested in Innoversal Papyrus EReader also, and just called their customer service, and got the latest info about the date of possible sales: the first week of October. And it will start from Taiwan, Yuhoo!!!

BTW, they won't sell their device directly, they will sell it through others, such as online stores or local electronic stores. Keep an eye on their website if you are interested: http://www.innoversal.com.tw/en-us/home.aspx

I'll keep my eyes open for my (maybe) first E-Reader to come out (and it is such a blessing that it is made in Taiwan, I will not fret if my device has any problem or if I need to talk to a real person about how to solve the problem.)

Does that mean you're situated in Taiwan? And possibly might help with ordering one when they're out on the market.

Yes! I'm in a rural town of eastern Taiwan, not in Taipei or near Taipei. Innoversal will set up about ten sales shops/display spots in Taipei, and I might be able to travel to Taipei to see and buy the device, but the most convenient way for me is buying through online store. I even bought bags of frozen bagels and frozen restaurant-made-noodles through internet. I bought almost everything online! ;-)

It will be convenient and even safe for you if you can shop directly from them (online-store). Send them email asking about sales in your city or online store in your country. If everything fails, I will see what I can do to help.
