All the LRF related files are in src/calibre/ebooks/lrf but this would be a far from trivial change.

Do you have any suggestions then? I mean, I have about 85 LRF files I hand made in BookDesigner that took quite a long time. We're talking long novels with added artwork, author pictures and all errors fixed using HarryT's tutorial for a guide. I'd hate to just ditch them because having to go through that many books and fixing all those lines of code would take far too long. I know I could do without the TOC links, but that was something that took a bit of work as well.
I do have them in HTML output too, but the back-links weren't saved from BD. |

I actually did try LRFtools a while back. While it did save the links correctly, it also would randomly insert like half-sentence spaces for some reason. Couldn't figure out why. For example:
text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text text Except that space wouldn't be a full one, just a partial or halfway space. As for Sigil, I gave that a go too but every HTML input I tested didn't have or generate a stylesheet. So the output would have huge fonts. Isn't there a way to auto-generate a stylesheet for an HTML file? Only could get EPUB input to make the needed stylesheet with all the code intact. EDIT: Here is a sample screenshot of an LRFTools output EPUB: Notice towards the bottom of the page where the lines are inserted between sentences? It seems to do that whenever italics are used. I tried in Calibre to do an EPUB to EPUB but the spaces still persisted. I checked in Sigil to see what the stylesheet showed, but I couldn't find anything problematic. Not sure what to do about those italic spaces. EDIT 2: Wow, duh. Just now notcing that LRFtools also doesn't retain spaces. Just can't catch a break here. I also noticed that when I was converting an .lrf file to .epub, the lrf file itself didn't have lines between paragraphs, and I unchecked "remove lines between paragraphs" as well as unchecking "insert blank line" but the epub created defaulted to lines between paragraphs. Why wasn't the original formatting preserved? Is this an .lrf issue? |

thanks to all who answered my PDF to epub problems. I have researched it for some hours and found that apple with it's pdf output makes for nearly impossible conversion. PDF has its own display format that other free flowing text or more regimented html does not recognise.
I have solved the problem by a more tedius route, I load the pdf in ABBYY fine reader, fix any obvious errors, usually there are none, delete any superfluous cover images, and get ABBYY to save the file in html format. Calibre then converts it properly. Long winded but it works. |

I already had an epub with apple for the ibook. I now, what to edit that file and have been having difficulty when I make changes to the epub.
I am trying to: 1. Add a video file in the beginning of the chapter. 2. Add three audio files at the end of the ebook 3. Add some more pictures at certain chapters. All the epub creators that i have found have put all the medial files at the end. Does anyone know the best way to edit epubs on the mac, and not using command line. I have no issues in recreating the ebook to epub if necessary. I have each chapter in rtf. I have a title, introduction and dedication page that needs to go first, then the chapters. I also have adobe indesign, which causes errors in apple's app submission itune producer. Right now, I have the epub with no errors, but now I just need to add media where on certain pages and I haven't found an easy way to do this. Any suggestions? ![]() |

Can't create ePub
Hello,
Total newb to this process. I am trying to create an ePub from a PDF. I let it run for 45 minutes, but the progress bar doesn't move. When I opened up the log, this is what I got. Any ideas? Thanks. Did you try restarting your computer and trying again. Most conversions are fast but on rare occasions I've had conversions last longer. |

After restart, I suggest trying another test conversion on a small pdf that you know is all text. Just make sure something isn't interfering with the conversion process.

I did try a restart. Even if it does do a small pdf with all text, that won't help me. If it can't do a big PDF (like 400+ MB) that includes pics (whether or not the pics show up in the ePub doesn't matter), then I need to figure out another way to get my book converted... |
