Your "dog park board"? do you have to join it? Are the membership fees for the park? Not a bad idea I guess, since then you have a certain amount of faith that the other people using it are similarly minded and responsible.

Personal nudity is not a right.
In h_t's case, it's a wrong.

Can't see how you couldn't.

Just because you spend your days naked doesn't mean everyone else wants to. Mind you, I think it's a great idea, just applicable for everyone.

I didn't think H_T was that young, or are you saying you're that old? More importantly, does that mean you like the reading in the nude idea!?

the county gave us (after a LOT of meetings, wrangling and so on) parts of 3 parks to be used as off leash dog parks. we get a teeny tiny budget from them (like to pay for garbage pick up). almost anything else we do improvement wise comes from the users. we have a board that meets with the parks commissioners. when I traveled all over the country with my dog I used a LOT of parks and have seen different approaches; monthly/yearly membership fees, daily use fees (where you put money in a box like in parking lots), payment for an access code to get in the park gate, to completely free. the outstanding point at every park is a group of dedicated volunteers that attends work parties, helps "police" the park in assisting newbies with socializings their dogs (and quite often the humans) *encouraging* people to pick up poops, and overall making it a nice and safe environment for the pups and the people

My ex in-laws HATED it when I would bring a book to their house, or find something in their bookcase to read while I was there. If they had been actively wanting to talk to me, I could have understood it, but most of the time when we were there, they were doing their own thing and completely ignoring at least me, so I figured I could do as I wished. Me with an ebook reader would drive them completely round the bend...boy am I glad they are my EX in-laws.... my current ones love me - and my books.

Exactly how much reading do you expect you'll be able to do with Chris launching himself at you every couple of minutes?

Unless you can read during the mauling?

Same here, although it is my wife who says I'm not being social when I bring a book. In my defense though the kids are always running around playing, my wife is talking with her sisters and mom, and her brothers are either not home, or watching the slide show on TV (see previous posts for explanation)

That would be neat, there is one near us but our dog is not very social - she hates other dogs But that is a step up from the last one who also hated other people

yeah, taking a non-socialized dog to the puppy park certainly spells disaster!

My husband is a non-reader... save for the occasional magazing in the bathroom. It looks like there are several of us readers married to not-really-readers. My husband says he can always tell what kind of a book I've read by how I act. When I say something laden with jealousy, like "is your coworker pretty/do you like her" etc, he always says "ok, what are you reading now??" Obviously too much chick-lit with men cheating on their wives.

EEEERK! sounds like father's side of family .

My ex hated not books (he has quite a lot- even though I've many more ) but ereaders and ebooks- even pdfs . He used to say they weren't books . For this and for other things: good riddance!
