I think you could also use something like ///my own title/// to get whatever you want? In other words it is the treble '/' characters that denote a TOC entry in Markup?

Any text editor that supports regular expressions will be able to remove your hardcoded leading spaces. I use Notepad++ because it's free but I haven't tried it with Chinese characters.

I also thought that this might work. Unfortunately it didn't, at least not for me. The new string was just treated like standard text.

kovidgoyal, can we add a feature in Calibre GUI that can specify where we want the TOC to be - I know it's hard to specify every places in the GUI as Calibre is not an editor, but can we at least specify either the top of the text (after the cover page) or the end of the text? Also, it would be very very very nice if you can allow people to enter their own literal (hopefully unicode for multi-language support also) for the TOC Title. Love Calibre, great job!

As I already said in post #4 above. You can already do this. Not via the GUI but a simple edit in the TXT file.
