Looking for a case for your A81? I'm not talking about a full protective case, but one which allows you to access your MID as if it were a book (hey, this is an ebook forum). Neither Wirelession or Witstech sells such a case so I started looking around. There are many sold for the Kindle and it's brethren but none have dimensions close to the A81. I took my ruler and went around to many stores measuring and finally found what I was looking for. Staples sells a fake-leather case made by 'Avenues USA' for a mere $8.95. It is the RA-3408-02 and is sold as a 'Personal Card File'. You carefully cut-away the clear plastic inserts which are to hold business cards (I used an exacto-knife and placed cardboard between the inserts and the case... so I wouldn't cut into the case). The next step is to carefully place Velcro with sticky-back to both the case and to the back of the A81 (I placed about a half inch inside of each of the four corners). Viola! It's superb for carrying like a book in either the horizontal or vertical positions. Here's a couple of really bad cellphone images which might give some semblance of what I'm talking about... Nice job Spat! How long does the battery last for you? Wonder how this will stack up next to the tablet that Kmart is now selling?

I've invented Chinese engineers, who released Android 2.2 Froyo update for Wits A81E! Joking apart, Witstech released Android 2.2 FW. We get power management(suspend mode, screen auto off, buttery info etc.), brightness adjustment and some more. No GPS and BT though. You can download it here http://u.115.com/file/f2d0fa300fAndr..._800M_0730.rar Attention, everything is in Chinese. In addition we can add Market and Google Apps via ADB(Android Debug Bridge, a tool from the Android SDK) http://www.slatedroid.com/f82/androi...html#post28295 Uploaded with ImageShack.us |

Market adding procedure should work for A81 as well, but I don't have one to try.

I tried installing Android 2.1 for my A81_C. I followed all the instructions found on the PDF but when i plug the power into my A81 I see the 4 rectangles for about 2 seconds then my screen turns yellow. I can install WinCE no problem but for some reason I can't get android to work... |

Android 2.2 firmware is made for A81-E, not for A81.

Yup I realized that but on the wirelession firmware page they have a beta version android 2.1 before A81 bought before July 2010... Can someone post a link for the A81_C please? I went through all the pages and didn't see one... |

http://rapidshare.com/files/40725713...22-old-a81.rar and http://www.megaupload.com/?d=JFMZV241 (Remember, this is 2.1. There is not 2.2 for A81 yet) Last edited by pphilipp; 08-08-2010 at 02:05 PM. | |
