Tales from the Green series - YA Fantasy - Page 2

The amount of support I've recieved this week has been greatly uplifting. Not only the comments on this thread, but also two new reviews on Smashwords for The Magic Flute (pretty sure BexBits was one), and last but certainly not least, new cover art! Look up at the original post to take a look!

The new covers were made for me by Ronnell Porter, author of the Trinity Saga and an outstanding artist. He approached me on Kindleboards out of the blue, offering free covers to replace my own admitedly ameturish art. Honestly I don't know if he read my books and liked them or just felt sorry for me when he saw my old covers, but either way I am incredibly happy with the results. Maybe when I finish the third book in the series I can trouble him for another.

Oh, and there's one more thing on top of all of that: I got my first payment from Amazon this week. I guess this means I'm an author now

It's September! Thanks to all for August being my best sales month to date. Considering that I pretty much only promote here and Kindleboards I think I can safely credit this online community with any success I have

We start the month off with a new(ish) Amazon review for Tales from the Green Book One: The Magic Flute, as always available for only 99 cents at Amazon and Smashwords!

It's been six months since I've bumped myself so I thought I'd share a little news. With sales continually exceeding my expectations I've sort of dropped off the whole online self-promotion gig to devot myself to completing the third installment of Tales from the Green. Book 3: The Tainted Sliver will be released sometime in 2011, though for the sake of quality I likely won't be releasing it by May as I had originally planned as of this time last year.

After several skeletal early drafts which I collective refer to as a first draft, I'm about 50% locked down on a complete front to back 2nd draft. That's the prologue through the end of chapter 4 completed and almost in final product shape with the rest of the novel still floating about in about 20 seperate Word documents. All the words are there except the final chapter, I just have to put them in the right order and edit for continuity. Once that happens we're down to final editing, cover art, beta reading, and cleaning it up for the different online stores, so we're closing in on the final stretch.

This will be my biggest work yet, both in page count and scope, so I hope that you all find it worth the wait.

Keep watch at my blog for further details as things develop and thanks for reading. And remember, the biggest favor you can do for an indie writer is to give feedback, so keep those reviews coming. I'm looking at you, UK readers!

Well, err, no. It turns out that unbeknownst to me, the author, The Tainted Sliver is not actually the third book of the series, but rather the hitherto unwritten fourth book. But never fret, faithful readers! Two years of hard work has finally paid off in the form of Tales from the Green Book Three: Spider's Web.

Just an FYI for those interested, I am currently doing a fairly major edit of the first book of the series, The Magic Flute. While the plot will be unchanged there will be a little bit of new content with revised dialog and less typos. It should be done in April, and of course there will be a announcement when it is available on Amazon/Smashwords. Track my progress on my blog at http://sdbest.blogspot.com.

See the updated first post for information on the new 2nd Edition of The Magic Flute, the first book of the TftG series now available at Amazon and Smashwords (and soon to be available at other online retailers).

Now until May 1st you can download the new version at Smashwords using coupon code UJ26V, so new readers can jump right in and old fans can get the newest update for free.
