Also, note that at installation time, Mobi Creator can be installed as the "home Edition" or the "publisher edition". The Publisher installation is the one that allows PDF input.
I just downloaded mobi creator, installed it, couldn't find the pdf option, re-read your post, uninstalled it, installed it as the publisher version and now I find it won't import my PDF file - the % complete stays at zero. Any ideas?

Probably not very helpful, but my only thoughts are is it a text based PDF (I don't know if it'll convert an image based PDF), not image based? Is it 'secured' or protected in any way?

There's text in the PDF file (ie it's not images) though there is the occasional embedded image. I can double click the the PDF file and it opens fine in Adobe reader.

Is it "secured"?

IE: set to not allow things like printing, copying content and page extraction by the creator?

Adobe showed a printer icon and I believe I have extracted the text before. Odd - maybe I'll try it on other PDF files.
