Okay, my DSLR has been 'playing up' recently, and the manufacturer's website gave me no sensible clues. I wondered, finally, if it was the age of my re-chargeable batteries that was the problem.

So a new set I purchased. They sat on the charger for a few weeks (truth is I was scared in case the solution was not the cure.)

However, yesterday we went out for the day, and I was instructed to take along the camera. Checking the batteries were fully charged that morning I took my reader in one hand and with the other went to pick up my camera case. Stupidly I didn't check - the zipped cover was undone, the camera bag was unstable, the camera tumbled out, I tried to stall its fall on my knee against the side of the unit, but it tumbled off and onto my foot, and from there onto the tile - covered - concrete - floor.

The lens cover is a rigid one, the camera landed on the front of the lens. The cover sheared off the front part of the lens where the filters are screwed on.

I picked the camera and the severed pieces up; and we went out for the day ...... .

I haven't looked since !!!!

Stupid me .... !

I hate it when that happens. I dropped my Sony Reader on concrete and was lucky enough to end up with only scratches on it.

Insurance? It might be covered under your homeowners plan, or did you maybe add it to a personal articles plan?
What about the credit card you bought it with? I know some of them come with extended protection coverage.

AAIIIIIEEEE!!!!!!

DAMNIT! I know this is not the Vent and Rant thread, but my friggin computer just BSOD! and tried to restart -- No Operating System!

Shut it down and restrarted (recovered from crash) and it looks okay, but Damnit! This is the second one of this particular model -- had to return/exchange the first one because of ("no Operating system") and this one had the power supply die after the first week and has been okay since then........friggin, fraggin, fruggin!!!!!!
