I keep an eye on the weather in Soldotna, AK where my son is....it has been in the low 50's the last couple of weeks with rain every day....

a few very light showers, otherwise it's cool and grey.

we don't get swifts up here, so the martins and the swallows are welcome to stay for a few more weeks .... although this years brood will soon be off....

Tim and I were wondering a few days ago if this summer is really hotter or if it just seems that way because we have always been working indoors until this year, being retired. Turns out it is hotter. We have begun to break heat records now.

They are predicting a cooling trend for later in the week, with highs only in the mid to high 90's. Big deal. Honestly, anything over 95 could just as well be 110. Once you reach a certain level of misery, from there on, it is just numbers.

Our AC is simply not keeping ahead of this heat. In the evening when the sun is in the west and blazing, it gets hot enough to melt one's butt into the sticky leather sofa.

Just like yesterday, and last week, and last month, and NEXT month for that matter.

It rained over the weekend though, and the humidity shot up from the normal 60% to maybe 80% or so. It was grueling!

A toddler died in a car today.
It is still 100 degrees at 6:30 PM.
Gonna be the same tomorrow.
Severe weather alert was raised from "heat advisory" to "excessive heat warning".
We are also under an orange level ozone alert.
Do not visit hellish Birmingham!

What?! I was going to visit you for the cooler weather, DG. I guess I'll just have to go visit the chicken instead. I like mine crispy!
