Fingerprints

I often read while I eat, but I was at a loss the other night figuring out how to keep my reader free of greasy fingerprints while eating a messy (and delicious!) gyro. Look what I found today at Big Lots -- a $1.00 zippered pencil case. I tried it out tonight, and it did a good job of keeping my Kindle protected from splashes and fingerprints. (I assume it would work well at the beach, too, as long as it wasn't dropped in the water.) The plastic window is pretty rigid and clear, so there's not too much reflection, and I had no trouble pressing the page turn buttons through the case. A pretty cheap solution, I think, if you're a little paranoid like me about keeping your reader pristine!

Neat idea, Betty. I've always used a flip-top cover on my Sony. With the flap back, it forms a perfect rest so that the reader is free standing and steady if my hands are otherwise occupied (I can hold a Cognac in one, for instance, whilst pinching the bottom of a passing waitress with the other ... and never have to take my eyes off my book). Cheers. Neil

I've got a similar, completely translucent, pencil case for my Kindle. Office Depot sold them for five cents each, as a loss leader during back-to-school last year. I also have a completely translucent vinyl document envelope for my iPad. I got that at a Japanese 100-yen store.

I'm very surprised at how my Gen3 screen is keeping clean after 2 years of use. Even the odd fingerprint cleans off well with a gentle fingertip wipe....!

Yeah, my Kindle is clean, too, despite my having read it for 15 months without a case. I found the translucent pencil case handy while reading and washing dishes or brushing teeth, lol.
