how to name epub book?

I'm wondering how kobo makes db. What format should
the book fulfill? Is this necessary:

bookname.author.epub

I was sure db reads metadata. True? I plan to simply drop
directory named "epubs" to the root of the device, with
author directories in it. Every author has it's own dir and
files in format "bookname.epub".
Is this enough or should I rename files and add autohor
name to them?

I have a book I scanned myself and set up all the metadata. The file name is title.epub, and it shows up properly in the books-list both by author and by title. I just dropped it in the root folder, I don't think it matters one way or another.

So, yes, I'm sure the db processing is looking at the metadata.

May I ask, what do you consider "root"? What directory tree do
you see? Finally, what file system have you mounted?
As you might guess, my reader is still on the way.

On my Linux box, it's the folder that shows up as KOBOeReader; it has a visible folder called "Desktop Installers", and several hidden folders: .adobe-digital-editions, .kobo, and .Trash-1000 - those are not marked as hidden when I connect to my Windows laptop. All my books show up beside the "Desktop Installers" folder, as I don't usually "Show Hidden Files".

This is how it shows up to mount:

/dev/sdc on /media/KOBOeReader type vfat (rw, nosuid, nodev, uhelper=udisks, uid=1000, gid=1000, shortname=mixed, dmask=0077, utf8=1, flush) -- (spaces added to allow wrapping)

Strange to have that partition in vfat. Good to know to mount it
properly. Thanks.
K, I will target "KOBOeReader" dir and put my whole "epub" directory
in it. How strange this tree was made, for my taste.

It pretty well has to be some kind of FAT file-system, otherwise the poor Windows blokes would be right out of it! I just think they should have made the . folders properly hidden for the Windows systems.
